UK based destination wedding photography and cinematography team, travelling far and wide telling stories with honesty and heart.

My name is Sandra von Riekhoff. I speak with a curious Canadian accent, but live in the UK. I hail from the dangerous world of fashion and started shooting weddings by accident 10 years ago. I think pictures speak a thousand words so I won’t bang on about how I have a near obsession for capturing stolen moments in time (traumatic for my children I fear) or how I like a stiff dirty martini and rough and ready English seaside holidays.

I’m always game, I’m forever trying new things out and I’m pretty sure if you fancy life off the beaten path we’ll get on well.

How would you describe your style?

I shoot with a salad of styles! Of course largely the day is covered with a reportage or documentary approach...capturing the truth of the moments. Then there's the gorgeous portraits which are a blend of moments and direction. The details are covered with an editorial approach and of course there's the nod to granny when we do some of the traditional portraits...all the while and riding over all of these approaches I'm going to throw a label on it and say that I'm always trying to capture the day with an artful eye...I want your photos to strike at the heart and leave you feeling something. Every picture must tell a story.

What do you love about weddings?

The adventure! The people! The poignant moments on truckloads! The LOVE!

What advice would you give to couples looking for their perfect wedding photographer?

If it were me and I was hiring for my wedding, I could only say that I'd need to love the imagery I saw on the website, but I would also ask to see an entire wedding. I think I would also want to make sure that they were truly experienced in shooting weddings...at least 5 years. It's taken at least that for me to wrap my head around anticipating moments before they happen so I have the time to frame them up capture them just in time...that's something you only get after shooting 100s of weddings... Finally I'd want to know that my photographer was a real people person and slotted into any crowd, I know that if they were part of the wedding gang, they'd be privy to moments a more reclusive photographer just wouldn't have . Oh and I think you get what you pay for;)
