The Change in Wedding Trends

The Change in Wedding Trends

From looking at all aspects of fashion and design it is clear to see that trends form, both yearly and seasonally; this is true for high fashion, high street fashion and of course, weddings.

Wedding dresses, table decorations, themes and colour schemes change from year to year and differ in popularity; what is deemed fashionable and on trend for a wedding in 2014 may not be the case for wedding trends in 2015.

Planning a wedding is a personal time and the designs picked directly reflect the taste and preference of those involved. However, there are some wedding trends that can prove more popular than another.

Popular Wedding Trends
One of the most talked about parts of any wedding is of course, the wedding dress. Wedding dresses follow yearly trends and a number of key designs are set to make an impact; a number of different fits and styles have emerged.

Off-the-shoulder necklines for example are making a big impact on wedding runways in 2014, a key indication they will be a wedding trend of next year. A style that has been on trend in previous years, off-the-shoulder necklines are timeless and elegant, and many wedding dress designers this year have included these in their creations, rather than capped sleeves and one-shouldered dresses.

When focusing on colour schemes and themes wedding trends are also present, and in recent years there has been a shift from the white, or off-white, wedding dresses to those than are created in a variety of colours. Coloured wedding dresses are an increasingly popular choice for brides with many choosing shades of grey, blue and mint greens and pinks for their dress.

The introduction of colour is a wedding trend that will be seen throughout the wedding in table decorations, bouquets and bridal party dresses. For many seasons dark purples, blues and burgundy shades were a popular choice for overall colour scheme and wedding decor, but this is slowly changing into lighter, brighter pastel choices which are a great choice for both spring and autumnal weddings.

Upcoming Wedding Trends
It is not always easy to predict what will be a future wedding trend, however when looking at recent wedding dress styles by high end fashion designers the caped dress makes an appearance.

Incorporating a cape into a wedding dress is a design that is not often seen, but is beginning to make more and more of an appearance. Long, floor length capes and capes that just cover the bride’s shoulders are both being seen as this style of wedding dress allows the bride to cover themselves arms as little or as much as they desire; additionally it adds something a little different for those who are looking to stand out from the standard, traditional style of dress.

As you can see, wedding trends are often changing and altering year by year and what is on trend at one time, may not be on trend at another. Though keeping up to date with wedding trends is interesting, they don’t all need to be followed; having a wedding that is perfect in the eyes of those involved is paramount.
