We share the winter wedding of Mr and Mrs Farmer at The West Mill Wedding Venue in the East Midlands, their day was captured by Darren of Reality Photography.

About the Couple

So this wedding was a wedding photographers dream; Gorgeous couple who let you be as creative as you want, a gorgeous venue, the west mill, with an brilliant team, awesome guests and fun all day! There was so many happy tears, huge smiles and some very questionably-care-free dance moves.

This couple are in love and don’t care who knows it. They’re romance is open and genuine. The act like no one is around when they’re sharing a moment and look completely content. They’re a prime example of why I love my job, so easy to shoot and just a pleasure to be around.

Tell us a little about the day and how it went

The West Mill, Derby wins countless awards for the beauty of the venue and the efficiency of the team. I cannot think of one negative part of it. The whole day was beautiful and the it was a joy to be part of. The evening, well, erm… it was madness, sooo many dance moves and care-free awesome people getting involved with the wedding band.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a Northamptonshire based wedding photographer. Wedding’s are my life and I don’t think there’s a better job out there! Being able to provide couples with photography that they’ll keep looking back at forever and making their memories a tangible emotion is the best feeling. I’m very laidback and I love creating work for couples that goes above and beyond what they expected from their day. I stay late into the night as I love that side of the story too; the madness, the fun, the love and the partying!

Laidback and creative with a emphasis on documentary and beautiful couple moments.

What did you love about the day

I left the wedding buzzing, I had had the best day and each moment from the start of bridal prep till the last dance I was made to feel like one of the guests, which is perfect from a documentary point of view! It was my first visit to the West Mill and I cannot wait to go back and shoot again!

What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding day

Write and list of everything you want at your wedding, from the essentials to the luxuries. Write the list in order then book/buy them accordingly to avoid disappointment. 90% of bridal prep get’s super rushed in the hour or so before the ceremony… no matter how organised you are in your daily life, so be prepared! The ceremony itself seems to fly by in the blink of an eye so take your time and don’t drink too much prosecco in the morning 😉
