Chinese Syon House London Wedding

Today we feature the lovely wedding of Jan and Keira captured by Ian Messenger at Syon House, London.

The wedding
The couple, Jan and Keira, were married at Syon House in London. Jan and Keira are both from Singapore but they met in London whilst at university. After graduation they returned to Singapore but when it came to getting married, they wanted to return to place they met! They actually only flew into the UK 2 days before the wedding!

The day went great, the weather was perfect and everything ran on schedule – save for the bride getting stuck in typical London traffic!

I started the day photographing Keira at a relative’s house in West London before travelling to Syon House with the bridal party. The ceremony itself was a short civil ceremony followed by photographs in the grounds of the house. Jan and Keira opted not to have a reception.

About me
I am a London-based documentary wedding photographer. I love capturing the candid, unscripted, parts of the wedding day. My style is natural and authentic – I don’t like too many posed photographs as the most emotive images come when the couple, and guests, can be themselves. I started photographing weddings in 2012.

When it comes to weddings, I have two favourite parts of the day; the groom’s anxious wait for the bride to walk down the aisle and then the moment after the newly-weds have left the venue and have a relaxed moment to themselves (this completely contrasts with the pre-wedding nerves)
