How to get featured?

Each site and blog will have their own criteria and own submission form, some will ask you to submit some information and photos to review, others will ask you to send everything in and then review.

Tips to getting featured

Choose the right sites – Decide which blogs are suitable for your style, don’t just submit the same wedding to multiple blogs, be selective.

Read the guidelines – Take your time and pick out photos to submit, don’t submit 300 photos and let them choose, many will require you to select the photos, so pick out your best ones that tell the story of the day. Once you have your photos make sure they are formatted, the right size, no watermarks and of a good quality.

Photos are just one part of the submission, you will also need to provide some supporting information about the wedding as well as a list of suppliers. Again take time to collate and provide this information, supplier names and web links, details about the couple and the venue.

Take your time – Submitting a wedding and being featured isn’t quick and there are no guarantees, but taking time to put together a great submission with all the relevant information not only increases your chances of being published, but also improves the feature itself, therefore increasing the chance of enquiries for yourself.

Exclusivity

When submitting your wedding many blogs look for exclusivity and will only publish if it hasn’t been shared elsewhere before, if they do publish it many wedding blogs ask you don’t share it anywhere else for a certain period of time, this can vary from 3-6 months.

You will not find this across all sites, but is important to bear in mind when looking at sites to submit your work too.

Submitting Photos

The standard across all blogs and sites is that your photos should not include any watermarks, if they are featured in an article they will be credited on the site and should include a link back to your website.

Don’t Take It Personally

When submitting your work there is no guarantee it will be published, don’t take it personally, this could be for a number of reasons, and you may not even get a reason. It could be the style or wedding doesn’t match or suit their blog, an incomplete submission, poor quality images, they have featured a similar wedding recently, whatever it is, don’t feel disheartened. If you keep the information you submitted then you can quickly submit this to another blog, ensure it would be suitable for their audience and ensure you complete everything they need as well.

Our list above shows some of the best and popular sites to submit wedding photos for publication.
