Becky and Will’s Styal Lodge Wedding

We share Becky and Will’s wedding day at Styal Lodge and captured by Mike Cookson.

I remember meeting Becky & Will at their home, so we could discuss their wedding plans… but we spent more time talking about their Westie Keith and his ‘Dog Television’ (a large cushion in the main lounge window!)

We hit it off straight away that evening and I was booked for their Summer wedding at Styal Lodge. On the day, though, in typical Cheshire timing, the rain came and threatened to spoil the party for us.

But no! As Becky and the girls were getting ready, I quietly documented everything we needed, as well as jumping between rooms for the Groomsmen prep in the Clubhouse changing rooms (Styal Lodge is adjacent to Styal Golf Club). I was well into my documentary photography ‘zone’ and really enjoying capturing all those little moments and details, live and unstaged.

With a few subtle changes to the timings of the day, we seamlessly worked around the weather. The ceremony was fantastic, with some great readings…plus the personalised vows brought some more laughter to the room!

Forget the weather, we were shooting live and having a lot of fun with Becky & Will. As a surprise, a friend brought Keith to the venue for a few photos! He (almost) out shone the happy couple. Just before the speeches were due to begin, the weather broke, so we could go out and grab some lovely, natural couple photos…with a little help from the Best man and a large umbrella. Looking back at the images, the rain didn’t really affect us.

We were all comfortably secure inside the venue, and the story of Becky & Will’s wedding was told. Thanks to the bridesmaids and groomsmen though for making it all work with our ad-hoc schedule, and making this one of my favourite ever weddings.
