Secret Elopement in the Beautiful location of Cambridge

We share the Elopement of Andrew and Adriana in Cambridge captured by Liz Greenhalgh Photography.

Andrew and Adriana’s wedding was completely different to any that I have photographed before. The first time I met them was as they walked towards me on a very chilly Saturday morning in January beaming smiles on their face.

Adriana had made her own headdress and flowers from ones they had bought from the market square the morning before. They live in Salem U.S.A and had decided to get married in England. After researching cities in the UK, they settled on Cambridge with it’s history and wonderful views you get from punting along the backs of the Colleges.

Arrangements had been made for the ceremony to take place on a punt with a Celebrant as we travelled along the river. Rebecca from White Rose Ceremonies had prepared the ceremony and a hand fasting was included. Andrew and Adriana exchanged their personal vows as the glorious morning sunshine beamed down on them. The river was calm, and we were joined for part of the journey by a swan who was intent of being part of the wedding.

After the ceremony and another trip around the sights we wandered around Cambridge. I acted as a bit of a tour guide as I live locally. My time with the newlyweds ended by the very British red telephone boxes. How perfect.

I’m a wedding photographer based in Cambridgeshire UK and I love nothing more than photographing beautiful moments with loved ones. I will be the one taking your pictures, but I am also a storyteller, a button-hole fixer, a tissue provider, a lipstick carried and most importantly, someone you want to be with on your wedding day. A friend!

I’m one of those people who is lucky enough to be utterly in love with their job; I get to capture memories of the happiest day of your life whilst being creative at the same time. Don’t be surprised when you see me welling up during the speeches, it just confirms that I’m in the perfect job for me. It really is a great honour to be asked to spend a couples wedding day with them, and for them to be able to retell their story for years to come.

My style on a wedding day is no-fuss and very relaxed. I blend in with the guests to let your day happen as planned. I don’t carry big lighting set-ups around, but I have them if we must use them and I won’t make you and your guests stand around for hours of formal photographs. I will, however, steal you two away from everyone for a romantic shoot at some point in the day and I will endeavour to capture the emotion of your guests throughout the day.

Having never shot an Elopement before, I really didn’t know what to expect but the morning was just beautiful, very intimate and I adored being a part of it. I would have loved to have seen everyone’s faces when they got home and told them they had got married.

Andrew emailed me once they were back in America and left these words “We cannot thank you enough for being there and helping make the day a great success!  We really appreciate all you did to help make everything work.”

When planning a wedding of whatever size, just make it your day, have what you want and enjoy it.
