Polly & Bert’s Wedding
We share the wedding of Polly and Bert that was captured by Maxine Howells Photography at Polly’s home in the very picturesque village of Priddy, Somerset.
What an amazing day I had at Polly and Bertrand’s special day.
The couple reside in beautiful Geneva, Switzerland, where Bertrand works as a Creative Director, but as the couple wanted to marry in the UK, the pair chose a humanist wedding, having the flexibility of marrying where they wanted, and what a way to start their married life marrying at Polly’s home Somerset.
The ceremony was held in a field just outside the village in a small marquee, providing stunning views of the Ebbor valley.
I made my way with Bert and the ushers, wellies in tow, to greet and welcome guests, who made their way through the lush fields, taking in the views of Glastonbury Tor and the welsh coast on this beautiful day, whilst the couple’s talented musician friends entertained us.
The ceremony began with Polly and her father, walking through the field towards us, accompanied by her 18 month old flower girl. Polly looked fantastic in her two piece wedding dress, and her customised wellies added a bit of glamour to their festival themed boho wedding. The whole service was so
touching and personal throughout with readings and music from close friends and family.
After some group shots, we all walked through the fields back down to Easton farm to the the Nissen hut, a prefabricated steel structure that was used for military use, mainly during the Second World War.
This half-cylindrical structure made of corrugated steel, provided a beautiful backdrop, and with a love for design, styling and little details, Polly & Bert created a stunning, rustic theme, dressing the hut it with vintage lightbulbs, wild flowers, hessian runners and dried hops. The whole set up was stunning, and their wedding day was full of gorgeous ideas with a relaxed, natural atmosphere.
After the meal and speeches, Polly’s talented brothers, Francis and Hugo, showed us there was even more to their many talents by entertaining us with their amazing guitar playing. They had the dance floor rocking and the party was still going on when I left.
I’m a Cardiff based wedding and portrait photographer, specialising in documentary style photography. I love capturing those natural and spontaneous moments, mixed in with a small
selection of group shots, just enough to satisfy the parents and family! This makes my job the most rewarding on the planet.
I absolutely loved shooting this wedding, the quirkiness and fun, combined with the attention to detail and alternative location, made it a pleasure to be part of this great day and to share it with so many lovely people.
