Beautiful Lusty Glaze Beach Wedding in Cornwall

We head to Cornwall and share this beautiful Lusty Glaze Beach Wedding captured by Alexa Poppe.

About the day:

Sarah-Jane and Dave tied the knot on the 12th of August 2017 at the beautiful Lusty Glaze Beach in Cornwall. This outstanding venue won beach wedding venue of the year and I’m not surprised, surrounded by high cliffs this private cove is secluded from the hustle of the busy town beaches in Newquay and therefor a perfect location for a wedding celebration.

It was a glorious sunny day, so perfect for their relaxed style beach wedding.

I met Sarah-Jane and her bridesmaids at The Headland Hotel Cottages mid morning to document them getting ready. It was a real relaxed vibe in between them, no stress at all. They traveled to the venue in a lovingly cared for VW Camper. The camper van theme was also reflected in their table decorations along with some colourful Ray Ban sunglasses provided for everyone to wear.

I was so pleased for them that the sun stayed out all day, especially as we had a lot of rain since July this summer..feels like autumn started early down here in Cornwall.

I did their engagement shoot a while ago on Crantock Beach and I knew since then they would be a fun couple to photograph as they are so relaxed and natural with each other. I loved the surprise sandcastle competition while Sarah-Jane and Dave went for a drive in the VW Camper Van to have a minute for themselves just after the ceremony. Some great creations there including sparkly shoes and partes of the decorations. I think Sarah-Jane and Dave struggles to announce the winner!

Before the meal and speeches we went for a walk down the beach to take some more couple portraits and the bridal party joined as for a paddle in the sea. Some of the beach portraits were a challenge as the sun was high in the sky and I had to be careful not to loose detail in the white dress and also position the bridal party right to avoid squinting in some of the shots. Great to see some wet and sandy toes though!

All of their guests were so welcoming that I felt I was part of the wedding day which always helps to get some good shots. They really were a fun bunch and there was so much to photograph.

The Quest kept their promise to get the dancefloor going and the end of the day was blessed with a beautiful evening light and sunset. Happy Days!

About myself/photography style:

I’m Alexa Poppe, a wedding photographer, lucky enough to live in beautiful Cornwall just a short drive away from the beach. I love the outdoor lifestyle and enjoy big coastal walks with my dog or surf whenever there are waves. Apart from weddings I work on surf travel stories and events. I have always taken photographs as far back as a can remember and can still remember taking holiday photos with my stepfather and developing them in our own dark room.

My style of photography is relaxed and informal/ reportage style. I like to act like a guest and blend into the wedding day, that way I can get right into the action without people being conscious of me, so I can observe and record those moments and emotions as they happen. That way  I can capture the whole story of the day and not just a selection of beautiful images.
