Laura & David’s Edinburgh Wedding
Do tell us about the couple:
Laura and David are both from London. Laura is a blogger and has her own lifestyle blog. They booked us for an engagement shoot too so it was great to get to know each other before the wedding.
Please tell us a little bit about the day and how it went:
The wedding was super relaxed and very intimate. It took place in Edinburgh and there was only the closest family – only 8 family members were attending.
Quote from the bride
“It’s really hard to find a good wedding photographer in London. Ones with a good eye for detail, with the drive and skill to create something a little special to remember the day. There are thousands to choose from. So when David and I got engaged in Feb, and after seeing their work over the course of the year, we knew we wanted Jacob and Pauline to capture our day.
We met the couple at a little cafe a few weeks after the engagement and discussed a few ideas. Everything was so thorough, from the style of the album we wanted to the style of photos. Did we want really edgy, innovative shots? Something more romantic and timeless? Or a mix of both? We talked about our idea for personalised invitations and, as we’re both quite shy in front of the camera, set a date for an engagement shoot to help us get an idea of what to expect on the Big Day. In Regent’s Park.
The place had real meaning for us as a couple, so we’re thrilled to be able to use this special place as the backdrop. Even though having hundreds of people staring at us was a bit daunting! With the added bonus of their fashion and editorial photography background, they helped us pick outfits before the shoot which meant one less worry. Despite the crowds and the initial ‘what do we do now?’ David and I soon relaxed in front of the camera and we just acted how we normally would. Half the time we had no idea where Jacob and Pauline were, only to find them hidden behind a fountain or gorgeous garden.
They were very much like stealth photographers, seeing something we couldn’t and getting the perfect angle for a great shot. Pauline even had nuts to entice a curious squirrel into the frame! We are absolutely, 100% thrilled with their work and the speed at which the images were delivered. The couple are amazing; so warm and friendly, and we chatted no end about Dubai weddings and £20k biscuits. Speaking as a really shy person, I would wholeheartedly recommend them both. Yes, London has loads of wedding photographers, but none compare to these guys.”
Do tell us a little bit about yourself:
We studied an art university, and although Pauline has been focused on photography from the start, Jacob originally studied at a film school. After working together on a few projects mixing photo and cinematography, love grew, and since then we have been together. Nine years later, and our work has been published worldwide. We’re proud to have had our fashion photography featured in Vogue, and we’re honoured to have been able to shoot a royal wedding all way over in Qatar too!
How would you describe your photography style?
A strong background in art, fashion photography and movie directing influences our photography a lot. We love visually creative shots full of light, original compositions and lovely moments with a touch of film. Pastel tones, natural light and shallow depth of field are things which are very important for us.
What did you love about the day?:
Photography was the most important part of the wedding for Laura and David’s so they spend hour and half at the beach shooting their couple portraits with us. Even though it was quite dark day the light was so soft that we could shoot literally anywhere we wanted.
