Interview: Stella Kurek Photography
In our interview series where we chat with the people behind the camera, today we chat with Stoke-On-Trent wedding photographer Stella Kurek.
How long have you been photographing weddings for and how did you get into it?
I have been photographing weddings for almost 3 years. The first wedding that I did was my cousin’s wedding in 2010. They both were very pleased with my work. When I started to feel comfortable with wedding photography, I decided to start my own business.
What do you particularly like about photographing weddings?
Weddings are a very beautiful story to tell. There are as many wedding stories as the couples getting married. I love photographing the smiles on couple’s faces and their kiss, but also when they are crying, as all of these moments are very beautiful.
How would you describe your style and approach?
Every couple wants to have nice pictures which they can put into a frame, but also they like to see shoots captured of their Big Day. Therefore, I take formal and informal photographs to give the couple what they expect to have.
What advice would you give to couples looking for a wedding photographer?
First impressions about the photographer is the most important. They should feel comfortable and they have to know, that they will most likely to spend all day long with them. If the couple have some ideas they should share it with the photographer. Also they should not be afraid to ask as many questions as they want, before they decide to book the right photographer.
What tips would you share with couples to help their day go more smoothly?
Do not panic, enjoy the day and be happy.
Finally… Whats the best moment you’ve had as a wedding photographer?
It is always the one moment on each wedding: it is when the member of the family or even bride or groom are crying from happiness. It is very emotional moment.
