Interview: Luisa Raimondi Photographer
Each week we catch up with a wedding photographer and go behind the lens to find out about that person, this week is the turn of Luisa Raimondi, a European wedding photographer based in Italy.
How long have you been photographing weddings for and how did you get into it?
I have been photographing weddings since 2009; I started photography as a job thanks to a friend. Having the same passion in photography she trusted me and my vision so she recommended me to a friend of hers for her wedding and my career began.
What do you particularly like about photographing weddings?
Photographically speaking, I love the fact that it cointains different genres, from portrait to reportage, from still life to landscape. Moreover I do love the human experience: I like to observe people, everyone, not only the bride and the groom, but friends, parents, relatives,…even neighbours staring at the window while the bride leaves home!
What is your favourite part of the day?
I like the intimate moment of the “getting ready”, when time is full of expectations.
How would you describe your style and approach?
Unobtrusive approach and clean style. I do respect the fact that a wedding is a private event, not a photographic set, I just let the story to be told to me, a story I will write back in pictures, pictures I want to be sponteneous. That’s why I’m not intrusive, and always look for an empathic connection with people and situations.
Who, or what inspires you?
Music and Nature.
What advice would you give to couples looking for a wedding photographer?
What you should look for in a wedding photographer is someone who shares your vision and understands what you want, then relax and trust them.
What tips would you share with couples to help their day go more smoothly?
Choose the right professionals!
If there was one place in the world you would love to capture a wedding where would it be and why?
Iceland, because I do love the North and such a wild nature!
Finally… Whats the best moment you’ve had as a wedding photographer?
Last Sunday, when I read a post on my Facebook page. It was written by a bride “of mine” which I had just left after an afternoon together where we had visited Vivian Maier exposition. I took my train and she took hers. A notification appeared, “beep”. She left a comment on FB for me. These were her words : “She really knows how to rock souls”. I just stared at my smartphone, with teary eyes.
