The Celebration

In Chinese Traditional Wedding, this couple has already went through a long day with gate crashing, praying and tea ceremony which last easily 6 hours. Once everything has finished, the couple changed to a comfortable red slippers, lie down on the bed and kiss. After the kissing shot, I have to get out of the room already!

The Surprise Sunset
Photo by Amy Faith Photographer – Katie & Peter planned their wedding to fall on what should have been a summer August day. But, as we know, we can’t always rely on the British summer to guarantee sunshine. They smiled their way through a cool & windy confetti throw and family portraits at the church, spent their reception drinks inside while the clouds covered the sky, and danced between the trees during their couple portraits, ready to hide beneath the canopy if the rain broke out. Thankfully it held off… after which I watched the sky and waited with bated breath for any tiny chance of a sunset. Katie & Peter were one of those couples who were up for anything and, I think, quite enjoyed being made to feel amazing during their portrait time. Thankfully their willingness to clamber over brambles into a field and my incessant wishing paid off – just as the sun dipped beneath the cloud layer we got 10 minutes of glorious sunset, turning the sky pink and purple like I’d never seen it before. Moral of the story – listen to your photographer!
The Sk8 Park
Photo by Amy Faith Photography – Hannah & Jay are Scousers, born and bred, meeting in art class when they were just 14. They now live and work in Sweden as a designed for H&M and an architect. From the moment they enquired I knew their wedding was going to be a special one. Favouring my style of city photography, they chose me to capture the urban landscape of Liverpool throughout their portrait time, which lasted for 2 hours prior to the ceremony taking place. I was in city wedding photography heaven! The skate park in the famous Baltic Triangle area was being worked on as we passed it, builders everywhere. I suggested we pop inside to use the colourful graffiti backdrop for one of their portraits, making sure to include in the shot some of the rubble and a wheel from one of the builders bikes. I’m so glad we did because this wall has sadly been painted over with a huge mural advertisement for Netflix. An insight into what a cool area it was before more huge corporations get hold of it for good.

Photo by Paul Fletcher Photography – This photo was taken in the Meeting House on the Sussex University campus and it was imperative that I shot lots of images that showed off the beautiful and interesting stained glass windows. This photo was a particular favourite for the moments before the ceremony and the colours too.
Love and the sun

The Boys
Photo by J S Coates Wedding Photograophy – Taken at the beautiful Cowley Manor and featuring the wonderful Jonathan & Kurtis. We had spent some time exploring the glorious green gardens this venue had to offer and I stumbled across an old looking shack with a red door that I thought would match their buttonholes and break up all the green backdrops we had been using. I wanted to add a splash more colour, so using a CD (remember those ha ha) I used it to catch the sun and it created a beautiful rainbow effect perfectly fitting the photo.
Cinecittà studios!

The first dance
Photo by Stefano Ferrier – I was in Northern Italy during a Wedding in an ancient monastery, the first dance was starting and then suddenly I noted the beautiful game of lights and I promptly asked the deejay to aim them directly in front of me, little did I know that it was going to become a great result.
Shutter Love
Photo by Hayley Pettit Photography & Film – I took this when shooting my first destination wedding in the South Of France a couple of years back.
It was on a little beach near Perpignan and as September was coming to an end, so was the idyllic beach wedding weather. We were all a little concerned as the skies were darkening and the wind was causing chaos (think mini beach sandstorm!) However, as soon as I arrived at the little beach hut cafe where the reception was to be held, I forgot all about the weather and quickly fell in love!
The entire hut was built using these colourful wooden,up cycled shutters, which I later found out are taken down at the end of each season and rebuilt again in the spring. This was to be the last week they were up before they were packed away for winter. The skies cleared, just in time for the ceremony, only to darken again shortly after and these lush vibrant colours provided a beautiful backdrop for some of their Bride & Groom portraits.
Coloured confetti
Photo by Albert Palmer Photography – Taken outside a village church in rural Oxfordshire… Alice and Darioush exit the church and are treated by a storm of coloured confetti. This is one of my favourites from their wedding… and it took them a while to get all of the confetti off of them afterwards!
Infrared Love
Photo by Eye of the Tyne Photography – Infrared LOVE. Inspired by the now discontinued Kodak Infrared film, which was developed by the U.S Army for aerial reconnaissance in the 1940’s. It took me weeks and lots of experimenting with various infrared filters to get my head around this photography technique. I wanted to try and incorporate it into my wedding work and I’ve been blown away with the result!
Colourful Carousel

We captured this colourful carousel snap after dark at Ashley & Jon’s wedding, which took place at Pynes House in Devon. They opted for a funfair themed day, so they had bucket loads of colour at every turn. We wanted to showcase the fact that night time doesn’t have to be dull and dark.
In Bloom

A big part of most couple’s plans are dictated by the season or the time of year. Lucy & James were blessed with a super bright spring day where the blossom was in full bloom. So of course we had to use it as a key feature in their photos!

Cake Cutting

After a church ceremony in Oxford, the couple had their wedding breakfast at Milton Hill House, a grand Georgian venue set in 22 acres of parkland. Uplighters had been used and the room was awash with with bright violet light which allowed me to capture these vibrant images.

Finishing touches

The colours across the whole wedding were incredible from the paint throwing at the Gaye Holud to the fresh flowers that decorated the family home and garden – which was used for the events. This photo was taken in one of the bedrooms of the family’s Cheshire home minutes before Sarah was revealed to family and friends waiting for her in the garden.
Destination Cherry Blossom Engagement

I was hired to photograph their destination wedding and was able to catch them for an engagement session during the Cherry Blossom season in Vancouver Canada this spring. Cameron makes Janessa laugh and her smile is infectious. They are wonderfully colourful in personality and their outfits were a perfect reflection of that. His complements here and hers is well, wonderfully colourful.
Daisy + Ben

Sian + James

This image isn’t from their first dance, it was a bit later on in the evening – it looks a bit like a couple dance off! I love dance floor photos when the band or dj light up the space with colours, and Tru Groove did it perfectly.
Having your cake and eating it
Photo by Hana Laurie Alternative Wedding Photographer – Cake shots can be pretty dull, and static, and formal… Emma and Pete and I just decided to get all up in there for theirs. Such was our desire to get on and eat it. The whole wedding was in rainbow colours with amazing lanterns and flowers, and the super bright teapot cake didn’t disappoint either!
Red is For Love
