Chichester Cathedral & Goodwood House Wedding

Chichester Cathedral & Goodwood House Wedding

We share the wedding of Karena and Adam who got married at Chichester Cathedral and then celebrated at Goodwood House, their day was captured by Damion Mower.

I first met Karena and Adam at their pre-wedding shoot in Regents Park Secret Garden. Karena’s Mum had booked me as their photographer and so it was a great chance to get to know Karena and Adam properly and help them become relaxed in front of camera. Karena, a school teacher and Adam, who runs his own business, had grand plans for their wedding day in West Sussex. The ceremony was held at the beautiful Chichester Cathedral with the reception at Goodwood House nearby. Everything about the day was stunning and exquisitely executed.

The wedding morning had so many lovely details that made it special, from matching bridesmaid dressing gowns and slippers, to personalised champagne and named dress hangers. These little touches ran through the day as guests were treated to favours of Karena and Adam as children and a table plan of luxury champagne brands. The big surprise, and my favourite moment of the day, came from the singing operatic waiters that entertained guests getting people onto their feet, waving their napkins above their heads. The duo belted out operatic classics in Goodwood Houses Ballroom just before dinner and some emotional speeches from the wedding party.

Later in the evening Adam surprised Karena by rejecting the traditional first dance, instead choosing to serenade his bride. I’m not sure who was more shocked, but it was clear that most of Adam’s Ushers weren’t expecting it and looked flabbergasted at their best mates boldness (and talent).

It was a joy to capture this wedding and to spend time with Karena and Adam and their extended friends and family, we even managed to steal some time together for a few newlywed shots of the couple together. I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Buckinghamshire and shoot all across the UK. I try to capture the emotions of the day and deliver images that are elegant, natural and unique to the couple. I take time to get to know guests during the day but maintain an unobtrusive presence which I feel puts people at ease and allows me to capture more natural moments without people being conscious of the camera.

What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding day?

For couples looking to book their wedding photographer I would offer 3 bits of advice…

  1. Love your photographers style – this is how your wedding will be captured.
  2. Love your photographer – you’re going to spend a lot of time with them on a momentous moment in your life, you’ve got to get on together.
  3. Check that they have a body of work and view entire weddings, not just highlight images or portfolios.

Testimonial from the bride

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Damion. From start to finish, he was so professional and immediately put us at ease during our pre-wedding shoot with his friendly and easygoing nature. He was extremely organised and from day one we knew we were in capable hands. Throughout the wedding day, Damion knew the venues extremely well and where to take the best shots. Moreover, he made myself and my husband feel so relaxed and at ease during all of the photo shots and I think this is clear to see in the final photos. We cannot thank Damion enough for helping to capture such precious memories that we will treasure for a lifetime. We would not hesitate in highly recommending Damion to anyone else looking for a wedding photographer.
