In the February collection we focus on black and white wedding photos, and we have picked out 46 stunning shots that we just love.
The suggestive light on the bride
Photo by Nabis Photographers/ Massimiliano Magliacca – During a Jewish ceremony a beautiful light went trough veil’s bride and I shot.
Photo by Special Day Wedding Photos/Anthony – This photo was taken with Ann-Marie & Alex on National Trust Killerton Estate in rural Devon. We were coming to the end of a pre-wedding shoot when I spotted this conifer is a beautiful patch of light. The couple had to wade through some long grass and undergrowth to get to the spot but it was well worth it.
Speak now or forever hold you peace 🙂
Photo by Alexa Poppe Wedding Photography – This was probably one of the most fun and relaxed ceremonies I witnessed. The couple and audience didn’t stop laughing, so much fun. I love capturing relaxed and casual weddings like this one at Exeter castle.
Light My Fire
Photo by Pedro Filipe Fotografia – This picture was made during the cut of the cake. I had the opportunity to take far away from the bride and groom.
Mother & Daughter
Photo by Sam & Louise – The final few minutes leading up to a ceremony are some of my favourite during a wedding day. All of a sudden everything starts to feel real and this time is great for capturing heightened emotions. This moment between Carly and her mum is one of my favourites.
Leaping in the Alps
Photo by Ap-Art Photography / Pete – The photograph was taken at approximately 3000 metres above the sea level at the bottom of Matterhorn – the mighty giant covered in clouds. After a little trek, we reached one of the lakes and the rest is history.
Angus & Dee’s gorgeous coastal elopement wedding.
Photo by Liberty Pearl Photography/ Amber Leach The couple cancelled their big 150 guest wedding, to have a small, intimate, stress free elopement with just 9 close guests. Having such a small congregation meant that they could get married wherever they wanted, so secluded Ayrmer Cove which held lost of special memories for the couple was their choice.
Photo by Andrei Dumitrache – Documentary Wedding Photographer – I made this photo during the religious ceremony. The priest had a very exciting speech, and the bride and groom began to cry.
To the church
Photo by ROBERTO SCHIUMERINI – When the bride leaves home to go to church, this is the most beautiful moment, the moment in which she is about to realize her own desires
Photo by The Gibsons – The bride and groom had this amazing LOVE sign during their evening reception. Before a table was put in front of it we took the opportunity to snap this which has become one of my favourites as it’s more than a silhouette. The way they are in this photo shouts out Love even more than the sign does. This was taken at Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute
Single, hen, married – the wedding cycle
Photo by Rob Sanderson – I love to include the surrounding architecture and the public when faced with a city centre wedding. This, outside Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool was just one of those moments that was just too good to miss.
Photo by Andreu Doz Photography – We went for a Post-weddding session to Siurana (near Barcelona), a very small village on top of a mountain. It was winter and on our way up we were covered by fog. We couldn’t see anything further than 3 meters away.
We thought that the session would be cancel, but to our surprise once we reach the village the clouds lay beneath us!
The weather conditions kept changing so it was a bit frustrating because an amazing light would come through the clouds but it wont last for long… We manage to take very dramatic photos and this picture is one of them.
love on the beach
Photo by gavin conlan photography Ltd – Taking during the summer wedding of Charlotte and Alex at Bre-Pen Farm in Mawgan Porth Cornwall.
We went down to the beach at Mawgan Porth to capture both their individual portraits as well as their couple shots. As you can see the tide was coming in so we didn’t have long on this busy beach but the shots we managed to capture were absolutely beautiful and they were totally worth getting my shoes soaking wet for….
A bit classy
Photo by A Tall Long Legged Bird – Taken at Orchardleigh Estate; Shua prepares for her wedding day in the warmth of the winter sun.
Adri & Lee & The Guildhall
Photo by Amy B Photography – I love how winter weddings force me to think a little more ‘outside of the box’. Adri and Lee were a couple who weren’t afraid of venturing outside into the cold on a December night to make the most of the impressive setting.
Nailing the first dance
Photo by Art by Design / Steve Wheller – When you photograph the first dance you never know what’s going to happen. Is it just going to be just a shuffle or a bit of dirty dancing. This was shot was taken at Rosedew Farm in South Wales. The party was held in the barn and Sophie and Sam went all out with a pacticised and stylish number.
Back Seat Romance
Photo by Just Hitched/ Dave Allen – The ceremony was over at the church, the formals had been taken and Stephanie and Jonathan were just heading off to the reception venue. I asked them to have a little snuggle up in the back of the car, this is the result and it worked beautifully.
Photo by Liz Greenhalgh Photography – When you are surrounded by family and guests but the only thing that matters is the person you are holding onto. Chloe and David have a moment during their first dance at Longstowe Hall Cambridge
Cassandra Lane Photography
Photo by Cassandra Lane – This shot was taken as Andy was checking himself in the mirror just before heading to his wedding ceremony.
Oh YES it’s raining!
Photo by Fiona Walsh – Jodie and Glyn were just awesome, up for going out in the rain (under brolley’s 98% of the time I must add), and trying something new. I grabbed my spray, and my lights, and snapped something magical looking.
Hannah & Adam, NYC
Photo by Natalie J Weddings – Hannah and Adam eloped to NYC after cancelling their Nottingham wedding, to follow their dream of being married in Central Park. After the wedding ceremony we spent a couple of hours capturing photographs of their wedding adventure around Manhattan.
The magic of hairspray!
Photo by Sarah Williams Photography – I do love to capture the moment during getting ready when hairspray is being applied and even better when i have a source of light in the background. This is Helen on her wedding day in May 2017 having the final touched being applied before she made her way to Lord’s Cricket Ground for her ceremony.
Although this photos works nicely in colour too, there is something about the back and white tones that really make this moment pop and those little beads of hairspray stand out even more.
Photo by Jordi Tudela – Pedro and Marta were married in Masia Egara (located in Terrasa, Spain).
They wanted to have a romantic photo with all the friends around them and illuminated by the dim light of the flares. And this was the result.
Photo by Hollie Nicole photography – These were taken of Betsy at her and Gavin’s wedding at The West Mill Wedding Venue in Darley Dale in Derbyshire. Betsy had such a classic, old hollywood style and class about her.
Photo by Samantha Pennini – Their first kiss as bride and groom at the tuscan venue chosen for their wedding
It was so much fun… we wanted to do it all over again…
Photo by Hana Laurie – Alternative Wedding Photographer – Simon and Abi married in June 2016, and they loved it so much that we did it all again less than a year later!
They both love getting dressed up and were so up for posing in front of the lens again… Go lovebirds!
This time, we went sheer 1920s chic and it was utterly stunning vintage vibes.
Grandma we love you!
Photo by Paul Fletcher Photography – This shot was taken at Brighton Town Hall a few years back. The couple adore the bride’s grandma and it was really important to them that we made time for a shot with her. We got her chatting and then the bride planted a big kiss on her cheek and that was all that was needed for this beautiful moment!
Father of The Bride
Photo by Mick Cookson Photography – Sarah, the bride had lost her mum recently through illness. Her dad started to make his speech, but, understandably, found it all too much. Here is Sarah holding her dad, in an image I still find hard to look at. It’s images like this that explain simply and clearly why we do what we do as documentary wedding photographers.
The Baltic – Centre for Contemporary Art
Photo by carn patrick photography – I really wanted to capture an image that would do Jenny and Chris and their chosen wedding venue justice. Despite the drizzling rain, I think we managed to pull it off!
Going on a groom hunt
Photo by Kevin Belson Photography – Rosie and Dan were married in the village church within 5 minutes walking distance from home. Here are Rosie and the bridesmaids on the way to meet Dan at the church. From there it was on to the village hall (again a short walk) for the reception.
Lucy and her Father
Photo by Magpie-Eye Photography – This photo was taken in London’s Asylum chapel 2017
Love on the moor
Photo by Matt Selby photography – Taken in the peak district, it was cold, wet and a mega challenge to get the bride and groom up a muddy and slippery hill in the rain. I wouldn’t normally desaturate a landscape photo but I wanted to try something different. I switched off my key light and opted for a mono silhouette using just a rim light camera left.
Photo by Brian Robinson Photography – Taken at the Greenback Hotel in Falmouth at Lauren & John’s Wedding. This was just before Lauren was about to leave for the ceremony. Her Bridesmaid had taken her bouquet to her.
Farnham and the Veil
Photo by Tony Hart Photo – This image was the last frame of a short portrait session with Sophie & Matt on their wedding day at Farnham Castle in February. We’d pretty much wrapped up and on their way back to their guests they walked along this retaining wall at the bottom of the castle estate. The directional light and St Andrew’s Church laid out in the distance are set-off perfectly by Sophie’s amazing dress and her veil catching the wind. It’s an image of tonality, composition and texture and therefore simply had to be black and white.
Photo by Simone Miglietta Photography – This picture was taken during a bride getting ready in Italy.
I wanted to bring up the dream of many women.
On top of the world…
Photo by Andy Li Photography – What an amazing location! Beth + Andy’s blessing ceremony, conducted by Carole (Shropshire Ceremonies) took place on The Long Mynd, which is part of the Shropshire Hills.
Dance floor laughs
Photo by Photography By Tarik – Loved how much fun these guys were having on the dance floor at this point.
Photo by Big Love Wedding Photography – This capture was taken when Natasha had a few moment to reflect after the ceremony. I was just hanging back and letting the moment happen naturally, when her lovely bridesmaids who were commenting on how wonderful the ceremony was all of a sudden they all just asked to see the ring on her finger for the first-time and I was lucky enough to be there to capture this wonderful personal cherished moment when she realised and shared her joy at being Steve’s wife.
Viv + Paul
Photo by Andy Li Photography – Viv + Paul’s amazing wedding reception was held at Enginuity, one of the Ironbridge Gorge museums in Shropshire. We took the opportunity to pop outside for a few portraits before heading back inside for more crazy dance floor action!
Photo by Darren Hendry – It was pitch black outside but I found one lonely street lamp and thought it would be cool to position the couple underneath. Not sure if it was going to work, but when post processing, I was pretty darn happy with the results. Taken in Loch Ard, Scotland
Victoria & Paddy Countryside
Photo by Barney Walters Photography – This is Victoria & Paddy, they held their celebrations at Coombeshead Farm, in Cornwall last September. It was a super cloudy and slightly dark day, which made a lovely backdrop for this gorgeous picture of the two of them in the countryside.
A portrait session in St.Mark’s Square, Venice
Photo by Petal & Blush Artistry – Hannah and Stean got married in the beautiful city of Venice, Italy. This photo was taken in San Marco Square and although at the time there were hundreds of people around us, you would think they were the only two people there.
Photo by Joshua Wyborn Photographic – Lartington Hall, a gorgeous country house, which if I had to sum up into one word, it would be luxury. Lartington is completely private and exclusive for you and your guests with 75 acres of romantic rolling parkland and fantastic garden terraces. It fitted Becky & Bruce’s style perfectly. We all enjoyed the fantastic food also supplied by the hall and partied the night away like never before!
Bride and Hat
Through a mirror
Photo by Nabis Photographers/ Chiara Ridolfi – I was in a suggestive country nearby Rome and I was waiting for the bride before the ceremony when I took this picture. I really love her dreamy expression.
