Alison & Toms Wedding

We share the wedding of Alison & Tom who got married in London and has their special day captured by Sally Rose.

How the couple met….

“We were friends at university where we were both studying French, but we didn’t go on our first date until we discovered we were both living in Ealing (7 years later!)”

Please tell us a little bit about the day and how it went

Alison & Toms wedding was held at St. Mary’s Church in Ealing, London. Alison and Tom traveled in a white taxi to their reception venue whilst the guests traveled in a classic red London bus. The reception was held at Thames Rowing Club. A beautiful riverside venue located in Putney.

“We got married in April and we had all the seasons in one day – it was hailing while we were getting ready (my bridesmaids made a lot of noise at that point to make sure I didn’t notice!), rain during the ceremony, and sunshine by the time we got to the venue! We had our reception at Thames Rowing Club and we loved being by the river, where we spend a lot of our time at weekends.”

Do tell us a little bit about yourself:

I’m a professional wedding photographer based in London. I’ve been self employed as a photographer for 8 years now. However I shot my first wedding nearly 12 years ago whilst I was still at University.

How would you describe your photography style?

My style is natural and colourful. I have a friendly and relaxed approach to shooting weddings. I love shooting happy couples and capturing them truly enjoying their big day!

What did you love about the day?

I loved how much everyone enjoyed the day. It was so nice to see so many guests smiling and laughing. Alison & Tom are both lovely people and you could see how happy everyone was for them. I also loved being next to the river. I think riverside venues are really romantic and a lovely place to be on your wedding day when the sun is setting.

What did Alison and Tom love about the day?

“We just had so much fun all day – it’s amazing having everyone together celebrating with you. We loved walking through the confetti, seeing all our friends and family arrive on the London double decker for the reception, and Tom’s friend singing during the wedding ceremony (which was amazing!).”

What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding day?

Don’t feel like you have to stick to traditions. This is your wedding day! Keep the ones you like and ditch the ones you don’t.

Looks like this was a great wedding.

The last comment caught my attention though, “Don’t feel like you have to stick to traditions”.

I see so many couples who do things just because they feel they have to. It’s the couples day. They should do what they want not what everyone else says they should do. If nothing else it takes some of the pressure away.
