Imogen + helping hands
Photo by Sam + Yaz – Imogen and Jeremy were married in a french chateau, deep within the Loire Valley. The morning of her wedding, Imogen and her bridesmaids were very calm and quiet. When Imogen was getting dressed, the bridesmaids helped with all of the final details. This image is of Imogen after she had put on her veil. Instinctively, her friends all reached in to help her flip it back over her face, ready for her entrance down the long, sweeping staircase.
I love my head piece
Photo by Alexa Poppe Wedding Photography – This is taken at Lynsey and Ricky’s fabulous Lowerbarns wedding during the bridal prep. Lynsey and her friends had a great time getting ready and this beautiful relaxed vibe carried through the rest of the day. So much fun and laughter with this bunch. Bridal prep is one of my favourite times of the day to capture, the details, the excitement and a lot of opportunities t get close to the action. I love this shot as it shows all the excitement of the beginning of a wedding day and Lynsey’s casual approach to get her picture taken with lets be honest, not the most flattering accessory on her head.
The excitement of bridal prep
Photo by Sarah Williams Photography – This is my gorgeous bride Gabby having her make up done for her wedding at upwaltham Barns in Sussex. The barns have the most beautiful cottage for getting ready in and the light was just perfect when I captured this moment. I do like my black and white photography too and I felt this image worked perfectly for that.
In the nature
Photo by Nabis Photographers/Chiara Ridolfi – I was in Ponzano Romano, shooting in a wedding location nearby Rome with an ancient church. I shot this portrait to the bride that was so happy and excited.
Reflective Bride

Love is Enough

Bride à la Louvre
Photo by Ap-Art Photography / Pete – The Louvre Palace is a magical place where possibilities are endless. The architecture, the light, the birde, the connection and a bit of magic. It’s a game that has to be won!
Bride à la Louvre
Photo by Ap-Art Photography / Pete – Shooting at The Louvre Palace is a pure joy. The old versus the new, the architecture, a bit of luck with the weather and most importantly – the beautiful bride!
Red
Photo by Roberto Schiumerini – I think it’s beautiful the contrast that is created between the red of this wall with the white dress of the bride
Back

John Steel Photography

Those final moments

The Mapplethorpe bride
Photo by Ebourne Images – This picture was shot in Greece. I love taking inspirations from great artist, painters and photographers.
This pose was inspired by one of Robert Mapplethorpe’s self portrait.
Jade
Photo by Matt Guest Photography – This was taken during the speeches. It was Jade’s dad that was speaking and you could see from her face how proud she was to have her dad there. I remember the tears started flowing shortly after from both of them.
Quiet reflexions
Photo by The Gibsons – This bride hailing from Arizona America eloped with her other half toGlenapp Castle in Scotland. This beautiful quiet moment was captured while the bride put on her earrings. There is a sense of calmness and deep thoughts which I get from this photo which I love.

Just Married
Photo by Danielle Smith Photography – This photo was taken just after Jacqui and James were married at Jacqui’s local church where she grew up. I love the happiness oozing from her expression in this and her veil is incredible.
The Fix
Photo by Duncan McCall Photography – There are two shots during prep that give a chance to capture some interesting spray effects. Hairspray and make-up fixer. I usually position my flash somewhere ready to be used when these happen and managed to capture Taryn getting her make-up fixer applied in this shot. I love the spray highlighted and gives real impact to the shot.
Fairytale
Photo by Fiona Walsh Photography – This venue made for such stunning grand scenes, Becca and I were both so excited to use this hallway.
‘Never look back’
Photo by Ledid R Photography – Now this is The Moment!…
It is the most important few seconds in a lifetime. After long way of planning, after a lot of thinking about all the details of Wedding day, about so many choices, so many worries and so many discussions, there comes That Morning. It comes with joy and happiness and lots of excitement. But there is THAT ONE MOMENT, which makes you to realize, that actually, after you will put those shoes on, you will make The Most Important Step in a Lifetime, and you wont be able to look back and change anything, but it will definitely change your life.
It is just that little second, which makes you think that shoes can be so important. It is the last detail to put on, and it fills the whole picture of Bride to becoming Wife!
Creativity through objects
Photo by Nick Rutter Photography – Lovely Emily, taken whilst she was having her makeup done in Dorset on the coast.
Touching first look
Photo by Magia Obrazu – It was one of the most beautiful moments during weddings… Klaudia, The Bride was so moved when she saw her husband to be on the wedding day for the first time, that she could’t stop her tears.
Charlotte taking a moment before the ceremony
Photo by Jacob and Pauline Photography and Film – I captured this beautiful moment just a few minutes before the bride walked down the aisle. I love how calm and emotional this shot is.

Before she meet the groom I took this picture.
Runaway Bride
Photo by Davide Bartolai – In the second image, I caught the bride walking in the meadow: she reminded me the film “Runaway Bride”. I burst out laughing!
Waiting
Photo by Stonelock Photography / Ally Whitlock – Jess was ready so early that she was sitting, waiting, in the hotel reception for the London taxi to arrive to take her & her Dad from The Lodge Hotel, Upper Richmond to her wedding in Putney.
The Bride
Photo by Epic Moments Photography / Zak – Doris & Kit, who are from Hong Kong, have chosen the beautiful city of London for their pre wedding shoot. We met early in the morning at St. Paul’s Cathedral where we began our pre wedding shoot. It was a freezingly cold morning but that didn’t stop us from getting creative and having fun. We were really lucky to have the place to ourselves as the surrounding streets were closed for a marathon. We’ve managed to allocate some time for an editorial session in a stunning gothic church near the Bank. We then visited Leadenhall Market, Tower Bridge and at the very end, the Westminster.
This photo has been taken at St Dunstan-in-the-East church in London.
I’m a wife!
Photo by Sam & Louise – This photo was taken immediately following the wedding ceremony of Lawrence and Jade. Sam caught this moment of Jade literally stepping out into the world as a Mrs for the first time. It’s always felt like quite a poignant moment and I feel like it conveys quite a lot without actually showing much. It’s a nice example of story telling and how an individual image can be used to tell a story.
Bride in Curlers
Photo by Three Flowers Photography Charlotte Kitchenside – I took this of one of my brides last summer as she prepped for her wedding at Longstowe Hall, Cambridge. The room was really well lit and as she sat still whilst everyone buzzed around her, I used my prism to bounce the ceiling lights and got this image, I love the negative space, you’d not have guessed the amount of activity going on around her at the time!
double bride

Bride & father
Photo by Matt Selby photography – Taken when the bride arrived at the venue in the wedding car. The reflection of the father was actually a candid moment and not staged.
Wait a moment
Photo by Jennifer Jane Photography – This photo was taken in the corridor of the house where Ichha was getting ready. On her way to meet Ollie for a first look the light was streaming through the windows and reflecting off the white walls. Ir was just so beautiful I told her just to wait a moment whilst I grabbed a couple of quick photos of her. She looked so beautiful and radiant.
The Fairy Bride
Photo by Nina Pang – This photo was taken in Scotland from Jie & Hao’s wedding – a couple from Taiwan.
Martina’s grace
Photo by Luisa Raimondi – This photo was taken on the coldest and most rainy day of the last Italian summer! On September the 2nd, regardless of the changing of plans for the reception Martina had to face (she and Walter had planned a relaxed, open air buffet on the meadows in the Castello of Paderna, an amazing location in Emilia region, Italy) she has been smiling and happy all the morning long, during her getting ready. I took this pic while she was wearing her shoes: I usually adore the light that comes from an open window, and also this kind of black and white photos. Martina’s grace did the rest.
Two mirrors..
Photo by Simone Miglietta Photography – I taken this pictures during a Bride’s getting ready in England.
It was my first wedding in England and I was very exciting. The bride and the groom was amazing!
Kaleidoscope bride
Photo by John Hope – This is the beautiful Julia during bridal preps and a bit of creative playtime with reflections!
A moment of calm
Photo by Sam Gibson – This is Aimee having a moment to herself as a bridesmaid does up her dress. That moment that the dress goes on and the bride is nearly ready is the one where it hits a lot of people that they are so nearly there – and it’s amazing to see how differently people react, some with crazy excitement, some calm and quiet and just trying to take it all in. I love this natural unposed moment and the way the window is spotlighting Aimee.
ER Photography
Photo by ER Photography – This is Layla one of our brides from 2016 who got married at Didsbury House Hotel in Manchester. During the ceremony, the reading got a little too emotional and she couldn’t help wipe away a little tear.
Claire’s hair
Photo by Kevin Belson Photography – This is Claire having her hair fixed at Nunsmere Hall. There was a flash behind her on the bedside table. I took a couple of test shots to get the exposure right and then waited for the hairstylist to spray her. I didn’t interfere in any way just waited for it to happen. I think her hairstyle really makes the image.
Final details
Photo by Joshua Wyborn Photographic – Lartington Halls stunning rooms and decor as Beckys dress is altered slightly.
The look of love
Photo by Paul Keppel Photography – I captured this photos at Knightnor winery in Cornwall. I was rushing back to the bridal prep room and as I came up the starts I saw this beautiful moment between the bride and her daughter.
Disobedient veil
Photo by Philip Dignum Photography – The photo was taken at Saint James’ Church, Acton Trussell just after Dan and Danielle’s wedding ceremony. They had a great ceremony in the small church, and were heading straight outside after walking down the aisle. There was a slight breeze outside which caused Danielle’s veil to decide to latch on to the church railings and stop Danielle going any further. Dan and Danielle and a very relax and fun couple, so Dan’s reaction was to laugh and point at his wife, as she giggle stuck to the church railing.
After grabbing the photo I ran in to help untangle her and her veil; all whilst Dan couldn’t stop laughing about the situation. I’m really pleased I caught the moment, it’s a great anecdote for them both. It’s also a testament to what a great bride Danielle was, that she thought it was hilarious and just laughed at being stuck there.
The Peacock’s Eye
Photo by Liam Carroll // ZT Photography – Bride having fun in the field…taken at Bassmead Manor Barns, Cambridgeshire.
Stunning Sarah’s first look

The bride with the view
Photo by Nabis Photographers/ Massimiliano Magliacca – I was in Villa Cimbrone, a magical location located in the heart of Ravello, in the southern Italy.
It was very hot butI felt a special atmosphere when I saw the bride close to the view.
The sky was so blue!
Contemplation
Photo by Robin Ball Photography – Nicola takes a quiet moment to herself before her wedding at the Mandarin Oriental in London.
Amber nextar
Photo by Nick Brightman Photography – The first thing to say about this wedding, is that it was meant to have been an outdoor ceremony, but the forecast was rain, and the heavens opened mid way through showing that it was the right thing to do. After the ceremony, the sun came out so the Bride & Groom were keen to enjoy the beautiful grounds at Birstmorton Court, where they’d got a married
So, on a sunny afternoon, it’s natural to enjoy a cold refreshing drink isn’t it!
They’d both chosen their own favourite drinks to enjoy during the drinks reception, and the Bride had gone for English Pale Ale. This shot was taken just after their confetti walk (you can still see some in her hair) and I love the juxtaposition between the elegance of her dress and flowers and the way she’s necking down the beer!!
