Photographers always find these “About” pages very hard to write. Really we just want to meet people and take gorgeous photos! We always try so hard to avoid clichés about how we’ve always had a camera to hand, and we have a house full of boxes of photos.
I like to think I’m different. Ok, I have always had a camera to hand, and I could probably build an extra bedroom with the number of boxes of photos I have, but it’s my experiences and the memories in my heart that make me unique. The memory of my first kiss at an outdoor activity centre, dangling my feet over the edge of the grand canyon during a road trip across America, spending a weekend in Singapore on my own just to watch the Grand Prix. All these unique moments and many more have influenced me and fuelled my passion to achieve my dream job taking gorgeous photos of couples and their families.
I’m nosey too. I can’t wait to hear people’s stories, how they met, what they do together, how he proposed to her (and not just because I’m looking for ideas for my girlfriend!). Meeting families and surprising the children, and usually the adults too, with my bright socks and then acting like a big kid and capturing their laughter on camera.
I have a very relaxed and candid style that lends itself well to reportage photography. I like just watching and capturing events as they unfold but I'm equally as adept at creating the posed photos that always please the parents and grand parents. I usually add a bit of humour to catch a few more candids during the more formal times just so I can catch couples and families relaxing at their best!
I think they are a brilliant event and one of the few days when entire families gather together and are able to share their love as one big group. I love watching the laughter outside the church and at the reception as brothers and sisters, cousins and parents alike catch up on the gossip since they last met as well as welcoming the happy couple to married life. I love having a backstage pass to the happy couple on what is likely the happiest day of their lives, second only to the birth of the children! The nervous excitement in the morning, the nerves during the ceremony and the continuous love and excitement for the rest of their day, I think its fantastic to be a part of and to capture photos that I know they will see after and love and maybe even shed a few tears over!
Any photo session outside county Derry~Londonderry and Donegal might have a travel supplement but this will be discussed in advance.
