Documentary Wedding Photographer in Scotland

I’m a documentary-style wedding photographer based in South Lanarkshire, Scotland who works across Scotland and the North of England. As a specialist in candid photography I like to cater for couples who want to enjoy their wedding day with the minimum of fuss and interruption from a photographer. I dress like a wedding guest to blend in and get in amongst all the emotion, action and special moments of the day to show the wedding as it was seen through the eyes of your guests.

If you are not a fan of the idea of spending a long time away from your guests being directed and posed for lots of static, formal shots then, I may well be who you are looking for. I want to capture couples enjoying the best day of their lived with their friends and family and not take them away from all that (Although I do a few family group shots normally).

My passion is to capture weddings in my photographs in a way that shows the true emotions and events of the day. I want to tell the true story of your wedding day with my pictures.

How would you describe your style?

I take a documentary/reportage approach to photography so I specialise in capturing candid shots of genuine emotion and action. I aim to tell the true story of a wedding day through my pictures.

I like my images to have a nice, natural colours and a punchy look with plenty of contrast. I edit my images to have a timeless look and don't follow the latest trends in editing. I also love to do striking black and white images with great contrast.

What do you love about weddings?

I love being there to photograph people on a very happy day, surrounded by their friends and family.

I love taking photographs that show the range of genuine emotions that are on display during the course of a wedding day: laughter, smiles, tears, joy.

Advice for couples planning their wedding?

Have a think about whether you would be happy to spend a lot of your day with a photographer doing set up shots or if you prefer to be having a great time with your guests and having a photographer there to capture that.

Don't be pressured into having lots of traditional set-up, posed shots if you aren't comfortable posing and being directed for long periods of time.

Your Travel policy?

No charge for travel up to 80 miles from my home in Blantyre. Expenses and accommodation to be paid for venues further away than that.
