Hi, I'm Ryo
Telling the story of your day with beautiful, timeless images.
Indigo Images is all about telling a natural documentary story of your day mixed with small amounts of editorial and traditional wedding photography. Capturing the originality, emotion and narrative of your special day from the background.
I pride myself on a fresh, personal and intimate style rather than set-up or ‘posed’ approaches to wedding photography. Documenting the key moments of the day in an unobtrusive and stylish way. Looking for moments that are so often missed in wedding photography. I strive to provide all the personality, humour and relationship of the couple, the guests and the day. Blending in to the background with my specialism that is reportage photography of people and their interactions.

How would you describe your style?
Indigo Images is all about telling a natural documentary story of your day mixed with small amounts of editorial and traditional wedding photography.
I try and blend into the background and be almost invisible so we are not influencing your day. Working around you while capturing all the moments and interaction that happen. Importantly I am thoughtful, considerate and sensitive to the monumental occasion and everyone involved.
I believe that taking a step back from directing too much is the key to success. In contrast, we strive for the images to reflect the atmosphere of the day. We watch, observe, capture. Photographing in a relaxed, non-invasive and passionate way with a unique style and approach.
Being a creative documentary photographer is more than just capturing what is happening. It is about translating something completely intangible into a photographic story. Taking a step back and allowing character and individuality to thrive is important. The only time you’ll see us directing is during the essential family group shots and the couples shoots. Where we will construct the narrative, placing the couple in natural scenarios to create images for and about the couple. This balance requires finesse, compassion, creativity and above all kindness and consideration.
What do you love about weddings?
Weddings are such joyous occasions and one of the most important days of people's lives. I feel so privileged to do what I love for work every single day. No two weddings are the same so I look forward to the uniqueness each wedding has to offer. I love telling each and every story. It’s an absolute joy for me to photograph weddings! I would be honoured to tell your story and capture your once in a lifetime moments.
Advice for couples planning their wedding?
I might be a bit biased, but I tell my couples never compromise on capturing your memories. Your day flashes by so quickly it is so important to make sure your memories are there after the day for you to look through, so you can look back at your day and re-live the excitement, joy and love of your wedding day.
Another thing is that I tell every couple that they should try and keep the formal lineup list as short as they possibly can as its never a great experience to keep your guests standing around during your wedding reception. Keep it to the must haves and there's always time throughout the rest of your day to have more pictures with your guests.
