First and foremost – I AM A NON-TRADITIONAL DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER WITH A LOVE FOR CREATIVE PORTRAITS AND SILLY FACES. This means I get to combine my love of candid as-it-happens photography with my love of super beautiful portraiture.
My passion lies within the kinds of weddings that truly resonate with your nutty personalities, your lovely hearts, your eccentric ideas, your inevitable weirdness, your don’t-give-a-fuck attitude, your hilarious families and your loud friends. I want to document the day as it REALLY was – everything from the monumental to the unnoticed – even the smallest things can become truly extraordinary.
I want to capture you two messily feeding cake to one another after cutting it awkwardly with a large blunt knife. Your uni mates and you crashing together on the dance floor in a huge hug, singing drunkenly into my camera lens. Your gran having a laugh with the ushers because your gran has top bants. Your dad, the big softie, blubbing at the sight of his baby all grown up and getting married.
Because THAT is what your wedding day is going to be all about – real, unstaged (sometimes messy) moments.
THE BEST WEDDING DAYS ARE PERFECTLY IMPERFECT.
I completely adore documentary photography. This style has a way of making the viewer feel as though they actually were a part of the congregation on your big day. I want to capture raw emotions, hilarious expressions, guffawing laughter and raucous tears of joy; all of the moments that you can't force or plan or re-enact. By combining my fresh and contemporary candid style of shooting with my background in beautiful editorial photography, the portraits of your and your partner will be something you can cherish forever.
There is something unbelievably special about being asked to capture a wedding day. A photographer is the ONLY person in the entire wedding privileged enough to accompany the couple EVERYWHERE; from the very second you open the door to me in the morning, with you all bright eyed and bushy tailed, all the way up to the moment you guys get down with your bad selves on the dance floor to celebrate your union with all of your family and friends. Oh and cake. I love cake.
Research, research, research!! Then research some more. You aren't just looking for a photographer, you're basically looking for a new best friend. You are looking for someone who will click with you from the moment you meet, someone who completely understands how crazy you are about your dog, how much you love Harry Potter/Game of Thrones/Rupaul's Drag Race, how amazing you think your partner looks when they are dishevelled from dancing like a goon for hours. You need to have someone by your side that you can trust implicitly (and who you can turn to when the in-laws are giving you grief, haha!) Also, don't forget, when you look back on your wedding photographs on your 100th birthday (yes, you'll make it, I believe in you!), you won't see that weird bit of arm jiggle you hate, you won't see that your hair has come slightly loose and there are tendrils in your face, you won't see those last 2 lbs you didn't lose before the big day (because who gives a crap about weight!)... you will only see the smiles, the faces, the memories. Don't let your current insecurities ruin your big day - and, for the love of God, don't worry if your dress gets dirty!! Would you rather have a pristine dress in the attic and boring pictures, orrrrr bloody AMAZING photographs and a dress full of messy memories that you can recall whenever you pull it out of it's dusty old box :) or there's always dry cleaning.
