Oh hey! I’m Amy and I am a MODERN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FOR WEIRDOS IN LOVE. This means I get to combine my love of memorable candid photography and unique portraiture. As well as photographing all the time-honoured moments, I make sure to document the day as it REALLY was – everything from the monumental to the unnoticed – even the smallest things can become truly extraordinary.
I want to capture you biting into your cake instead of cutting it. Your nan busting a move on the dancefloor with your mates. Your dirty dress due to all the fun you’ve had not worrying about it. Your dad, the big softie, blubbing when he sees you for the first time that morning. Everybody cringing and cracking up at the best man’s speech that he copied from the internet. When you burst into fits of laughter because you’re not models. Anyway, don’t worry about that, no one ever actually knows how to “pose” in their portraits! That’s where I come in. I will guide you through your entire day, super chill but super organised at the same time.
Because THAT is what your wedding day is going to be all about – real, unstaged (sometimes messy) moments, interspersed with incredible memories that will become stories one day. And I will capure it ALL!
How would you describe your style?
Epic portraiture combined with proper documentary photography. Natural photography is the most authentic way of recording what actually happened without being afraid to show the messy bits. I want to capture raw emotions, hilarious expressions, lots of laughter and genuine tears; all of the moments that you can't plan or re-enact. By combining my fresh and contemporary candid style of shooting with my background in music and fashion photography, your wedding photos will encapsulate everything about the wonderful weirdos you are.
What do you love about weddings?
There is something unbelievably special about being asked to capture a wedding day. A photographer is the ONLY person in the entire wedding privileged enough to accompany the couple EVERYWHERE; from the very second you open the door to me in the morning, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, all the way up to the moment you guys get down on the dancefloor to cut some funky shapes.
Oh and cake. I love cake.
Advice for couples planning their wedding?
Research, research, research!! Then research some more. You aren't just looking for a photographer, you're basically looking for a new best mate. You are looking for someone who will click with you from the moment you meet. You need to have someone by your side that you can trust implicitly (and someone unbiased who you can turn to when the in-laws are giving you grief, haha!)
Also, don't forget, when you look back on your wedding photographs on your 100th birthday (yes, you'll make it, I believe in you!), you won't see that weird bit of arm jiggle you currently hate, you won't see that your hair has come slightly loose across your forehead, you won't see won't see the double chin we all get when we throw our heads back and laugh loudly... you will only see the smiles, the faces, the memories. Don't let your current insecurities ruin your big day - and, for the love of God, don't worry if your dress gets dirty!! Because IT WILL. Would you rather have a pristine dress in the attic and boring pictures, orrrrr bloody AMAZING photographs and a dress full of memories??
ALSO DONT CHOOSE A PHOTOGRAPHER BECAUSE OF HOW CHEAP THEY ARE - they are usually cheap for a reason and that reason is NEVER good.
