Petal & Blush Artistry

Hello! I’m Natasha, the photographer behind Petal & Blush Artistry (and the blonde in the photo!) I’m not the greatest writer and don’t enjoy writing about myself but here goes…

I love meeting people and hearing their stories. Whilst your wedding day itself is incredibly exciting and wonderful, for me it isn’t just about that one day, it’s about your whole journey and story. I fall in love with my couples stories. I love love. There is nothing more beautiful in this world, for me, than seeing two people so in love, so peaceful and happy. It’s a wonderful thing.

That’s why I wholeheartedly love being a wedding photographer. I get to witness those emotions every time I go to ‘work.’ Photographing weddings fills my heart with joy and happiness. I am truly blessed.

The couples I have the pleasure of working with are the ones bursting at the seams with excitement for their wedding day. They don’t want any stress, just a day that is created around their love and devotion to each other. They are planning their day for them, no one else. It isn’t completely traditional, but keeping the fun traditions (like the throwing of confetti, and first dance!) Their day is unique to them, they don’t follow the crowd, they definitely don’t want a venue package with all the trimmings. They want to add their personality to their big day. They want an intimate wedding with their closest friends and family, perhaps they elope to Greece or Tuscany and have an incredibly romantic sunset wedding. Above all else, they want to enjoy their day together.

If this sounds anything like the day you are planning, I have to hear from you!

A few fun facts about myself… I live with my partner Anthony and our frug Arnold in a cute terrace cottage in Darwen, a small town in Lancashire. Me and Anthony met four years ago on a dating website and have been pretty much insperable ever since! I graduated from University with a Fashion Design degree and worked in the Fashion Industry for three years, before going down a different path and setting up my photography business over two years ago, and haven’t looked back since! I adore the countryside and have a bit of an obsession with flowers, I love having fresh flowers around the house and my garden is full of them! When I was little I dreamed of being an interior designer and having my own T.V show, which has never really left my heart and to this day I am still passionate about home decor. I love being by the ocean (but not in it!), I drink way too much sparkling rose, and I am the biggest foodie!! I consider myself a genuine, down to earth person with a kind heart and a love for people. Ok, I’ve realised I could probably write an essay (so much for not wanting to write about myself!) so I’ll stop here. Come and say hi!

Let’s create a little magic together.

How would you describe your style?

My photographic style is beautiful, clean, paying particular attention to the details of the day. I predominantly work in a documentary style capturing the real and authentic moments of your day. Documentary style photography is capturing natural imagery and considering every moment important; guests laughing, children playing, the Dad dancing, the screwed up face you might pull after drinking a tequila! One of the speakers at a photography workshop I attended last year called it ‘the beautiful in the ugly’ and I couldn’t of said it better myself. It’s those photos that you may not think you look beautiful, but it presents emotions, and makes you happy/laugh/cry/cringe. I don’t just have one photographic style, but a range of different approaches to photographing your day. I believe they come together to create a diverse set of images, that tell your story in a unique and beautiful way.

What do you love about weddings?

What advice would you give to couples looking for their perfect wedding photographer?

It is so important to find a photographer whose style you really love, but it is equally important that you get on with them as a person too! After all, you are sharing with them one of the most important days of your life, so it's important that you feel relaxed and comfortable around your photographer. When visiting your chosen photographer/s website/s, make sure to read their 'about' page and their blog. Make sure you have a face to face meeting or Skype call with your potential photographer before booking with them. Make sure you read your contract and question anything that you don't fully understand.
