Farbridge Barn Wedding

We feature the Eliot & Vicky’s wedding on the blog today captured by Sussex based wedding photographer Neil Walker Photography.

Eliot and Vicky’s Sussex wedding was great fun and a beautiful, emotional day. Their church wedding took place in South Harting, West Sussex, followed by a reception at Farbridge Barn in West Dean, just North of Chichester.

Eliot proposed to Vicky on a skiing trip in Austria and the couple are both keen skiers, so the après ski theme they chose was perfect. I loved the flower arrangement in a pair of ski boots. The weather even obliged by snowing briefly during the big group shot we did outside!

I started the day with Vicky at her parents’ house, where I got some lovely shots of her & her family getting ready. Then I met up with Eliot and his groomsmen at the pub – a great place to get some relaxed shots of them all before we headed to the church. During the service I was able to move around the church getting some beautiful shots of Eliot and Vicky as they made their vows.

Once we got to Farbridge for the reception I took Vicky and Eliot off to get some shots of just the two of them. I shoot natural documentary wedding photography, so it’s not a question of posing people and telling them what to do, it’s just a great chance to capture some beautiful moments between the two of them. Very often it’s the only chance during the day they have any time alone.

The Photographer

I love shooting weddings at Farbridge, it’s a great barn venue set in beautiful countryside, giving you some great locations for photographs. The venue makes a great backdrop whatever the event theme.

My advice for couples planning their wedding day? Choose the right photographer for you – the person whose style you love and whose work elicits an emotional response. Your wedding photographs will be there forever and it’s really important they capture the love and emotion of the day, not just who was there and what you did.

Neil was nothing but brilliant through the whole event. It started about a month before when we had a Skype call with him to run through the details of the day and he gave us the benefit of his experience over some of our timings.

On the day itself Neil totally let us have the day we wanted and was very patient with us – trying to organise friends and family is a bit like herding cats! The shots he got are very natural and even a spot of rain became an asset in the pictures.
