Beautiful Photography from Gordon Hunter
Since buying my first 35mm SLR camera as a teenager, I have always been fascinated by photography. I took my first set of wedding photos way back in 1977, when asked to cover a friend’s wedding. They loved the photos and more weddings followed, so I was hooked! Since then I have lived in Sussex, Worcestershire, Derbyshire and now the Wirral and my passion for photography is just as strong now as it was when I started.
Over the years, I’ve heard many stories about wedding photographers, both good and bad, but the one thing that I hear most is when the photographer takes over the day and is ordering people around. I take a far more relaxed approach. You are paying me to be there to work for you, so that is what I do. Anything you want photographed on the day, it is my job to do it. I aim to complete the formal group shots in around 45 minutes immediately after the ceremony, but we all know that the Great British weather has a say in that! Once the formal shots are completed, you and your guests are free to enjoy the day. I will then follow on with candid, reportage style shots, documenting your big day, but I can also do some lovely fine art style shots of the bride and groom, if required. The choice really is yours. Of course, you may want to have another on location session on another day, maybe even after your honeymoon, when we can go to the beach, or any other location that you fancy. You may even want to do a “trash the dress” session. Anything is possible. My job is to deliver photos that will bring back your warmest memories, and which will last for life.
Weddings and baby photography are a big part of my business, but I also take photos of pretty much anything that people want me to photograph, from fine jewellery to large buildings.
My style is governed by what the customer wants. If the bride and groom have no preference, then I will compile a mixture of styles, traditional, contemporary, fine art and reportage.
I love the opportunity that weddings give me to see plenty of smiling faces to photograph. No two weddings are the same, even if held in the same venue. Every single one is unique in so many ways.
The best advice I can give couple looking for a photographer is not to choose on price alone. Ask if your photographer gives a money back guarantee? Ask if your photographer is fully insured for professional indemnity and public liability and if he/she is a full time photographer.
Up to 35 miles is included in the price. Travel further is chargeable.
