Hi, I'm Luis
Luis Calow | Intimate, Documentary Wedding Photography
Hi There, I’m Lu and a massive congrats on your engagement!
Planning a wedding isn’t hard – said no one ever! Choosing someone to document this landmark is probably one of the hardest decisions, for sure. From our first email exchange right through to the big day, I’m here to help and support you through the entire process. I only work with a handful of couples each year so they have my entire focus and dedication in making this the easiest most enjoyable experience possible. We’ll work closely to understand the images you want for your day, have as many catch-ups (with or without a bevy in hand) as you need, and build that friendship and trust, so when the day arrives we’re just crushing it.
My discreet approach allows me to capture weddings in all their imperfect perfectness, as well as all those classic moments. I wouldn’t say I’m a wedding photographer – I am a photographer telling stories through photographs.
Me in a nutshell: I’m a dad to a small human, we live with two insane animals and my Mrs and I are MASSIVE foodies (and wine-ies) that watch way too many films. I’m laid back and prefer to go with the flow and roll with the punches whatever happens.

How would you describe your style?
I've always been obsessed documenting and with finding the greater meaning in the smallest of details; capturing the beautiful AND the imperfect alike. I work discreetly, which helps me to bring a story-telling, cinematic narrative to weddings.
I only work with a handful of couples each year to give them the best experience and support possible, so I'd love to get to know you better and hear your story!
Lu x
What do you love about weddings?
I've always loved a wedding - who doesn't love a wedding!? Friends and family you haven't seen for a million years brought together for one reason: open bar. Just kidding. For me, it's being around the genuine love everyone has for one another, having a laugh and a good knees-up and just forgetting about the world for one awesome day.
Advice for couples planning their wedding?
1: Always have a face to face. If you can go for a pre-wedding session 100% go for it. You'll see how they work and how the chemistry is between you - it's kind of like a date! Bottom line - you have to be totally trusting and comfortable around them because it'll show in your photos :)
2: Don't dismiss a photographer because they've not shot your venue. Fresh eyes will give your images a totally unique viewpoint. Remember, you're after images unique to you and your day, not backdrops that someone's shot loads and has no connection with anymore. And if you trust in your photographer's work, experience and approach, then they should have no problem handling anything the day throws at them.
3: Ask ALL the questions - esspecially personal ones! Really get to know who you're working with to build that friendship and trust. Personally I'm an open book and I like to feel like I'm old friends with a couple even before the wedding. It just makes for a much more relaxed experience all round :) Also ask questions about the services they offer - it's not rude, you're investing a lot into this at the end of the day.
4: Always ask to see a RECENT full wedding gallery. You'll be able to see their current editing and photography style (as this does change and develop slightly over time).
5: Book Luis Calow - I hear he's damn good :)
