A stylish, natural and simple approach to the wedding day. I am Jonathan Syer and have been photographing weddings for around ten years. I trained at the London College Of Printing and approach the wedding day with the aim of building a true and honest narrative of the unfolding events and of course to document the love and connection between the two most important people.
I shoot weddings very naturally using just one or two prime lenses, working mostly with available light to help retain the feel and ambience of the wedding day. I have photographed at venues such as Blenheim Palace, Claridges, The Royal Society Of Arts, Barnsley House, Hever Castle, Penshurst Place and Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, Italy. I am available for weddings in the UK and overseas.
I guess I have an approach that I take to each wedding day that perhaps evolves into a style of work. I like to work with available light and capture not only the human aspect of the day with the connection between the couple, but also the feel of the day through the ambience of the light, the venue and vibes that the day brings.
It's really all about the people, the glamour, the emotions and, of course, the bride & groom.
Make sure you like the work shown to you; that you're one hundred percent comfortable with the person you're considering to photograph your wedding day and that you know what you're investing in. It doesn't matter if a photographer hasn't shot at a particular venue before - a good photographer will understand not only light and space but will also do their homework before the big day. I would also recommend that the photography starts at the beginning of the day, with perhaps bridal prep, and finishes with the first dance - this way the whole story is told through a real narrative...it is difficult to capture this in four or five hours in my view.
