I love being a wedding photographer! It’s the infectious emotion that gets me, each and every-time. There is something of a real privilege and joy being entrusted to capture such a pinnacle moment in a couple’s life together. After many, many weddings, it is still not something that I take for-granted. I love to capture the spirit and atmosphere of your day in a way that you may not have seen, or may have forgotten about by the time the vows have been exchanged, and the cake has been eaten. For me, what inspires me is being able to create a photographic story of your day as it unfolds.
I want you to feel when you view my photographs, as you felt on your wedding day. My method of work varies from scene to scene and is a mix of getting right in with the action (especially on the dance floor!) or working subtly and quietly around a scene.
My style is best described as creative reportage photography, I like to capture the pieces that people miss when they're busy concentrating on enjoying themselves. I love the reportage style, my photographs as a result, end up with a very different feel for each wedding, reflecting my couples as individuals.
The emotion! It is infectious! From shedding a tear at the vows to laughter during the speeches, I ride the rollercoaster ride behind the lens. It is addictive and immersive, and I hope that is what creates the feeling of 'being there' in my images.
Have a really good chat with your potential photographer about style, ensure that the photographer you have chosen shoots the way you would like your wedding recorded. That, and find someone with a good sense of humour, and who is good with emergency safety-pins, dress-hitching or fitting a buttonhole when needed!
