Wedding Photos of the Week – 25th July 2014

Photos of the Week // Published by Sam, Editor - July 25, 2014

It’s Friday, its the last one of the Month and our final Wedding Photos of the week for July! Here are our 3 favourites for this week, we love them!

Photo above by Ed Godden Photography

It was taken in a tiny village near Huddersfield, Yorkshire about a month ago, in the back garden of the bride and grooms cottage. Which is where they had their wedding reception! Overlooking the amazing countryside from a marquee.

I shot it with my D610 Nikon camera, 24-70mm lens, wide open at f/2.8. I don’t tend to use my zoom much at weddings, preferring to use primes, but I had just finished doing some family shots and spotted this guy lighting up a cigar. With the sun setting behind him I knew I wanted him exposed correctly, instead of a silhouette, and I’m so pleased I chose this look. I think the fact he’s wearing the Ray Ban shades adds a bit more of the cool factor to the image!

The couple are Jane and Memo, they got married October last year at Polhawn Fort down in Plymouth. Their day was one of the most unique wedding’s I’d ever photographed, with a full on falconry display chucked in for good measure. The couple are both super creative types with some amazing friends and family, it made for a fun filled, unique day which was totally unforgettable!

The photo is in the middle of the falconry display, the falconer got the bird (I have no idea how!) to sit in a tree and then called him back. However…on the way back…the bird decided to land on someones head, the resultant image is said bird landing on guests bonce, the funny thing is the guest is aiming his iPhone at me waiting for the bird to swoop past me! Priceless.

Photo by Michael Marker Photography – When you’re three why wouldn’t you high five the Vicar. For me captures the happiness of the day.

Well done to all and if you wish to submit a photo for next week then you can find out more and get in touch here.
