We feature the lovely wedding of Totty & Luke which was captured by wedding photographer Thomas Frost.
Totty and Luke are a fantastic couple that I became great friends with after shooting their wedding. They both are very relaxed and willing to have some fun. They went on a long weekend break to Paris, a place Totty had always dreamt of going to, Luke decided to pop the question when we were inside the Notre Dame de Paris cathedral. It was a complete surprise and an incredibly romantic moment.
Overview of the day.
Totty & Luke were married at The Oak Barn (Devon) which had accommodation attached the bride, bridesmaid and mother of the bride all woke up together and had breakfast with the groom’s family who also stayed. The venue is hidden in the countryside of Devon and provided the cosy atmosphere for this small wedding. Despite feeling very relaxed Totty was ready about two hours early, which gave her time to sit and chat with family and friends. Whilst they were relaxing Luke was getting ready with his Dad who was also his best man.
The venue was left free for Totty & Luke to decorate as they wished. They had handmade most of the decorations themselves and decided on a rose gold, light pink and cream colour scheme. They made a blanket of hanging stars and had fairy lights everywhere. They used a lot of hessian and lace and made candles and flowers the main feature of the tables. A friend made a wonderful old sheet music piece, which hung on the far wall of the barn, above where they said their vows. The overall theme was Paris, so they used a vintage map for the table plan and had tourist attractions for the table names. Overall it was a gorgeous handmade DIY wedding, the kind that I love to shoot and capture all the details and effort that go into the day.
Totty’s most memorable moment would have to be walking back down the aisle and seeing all the faces of the people we love smiling back at us. We chose the perfect song for us, ‘Feel the Love’ by Rudimental, and it set the tone brilliantly. We danced our way to the reception.
Quote from the couple
“Tom was absolutely fantastic. He brought the day together seamlessly and was wonderfully jolly despite the freezing weather. The photos are beautiful and I am in the middle of creating a wedding book, but it’s so hard to choose which to include as I love them all. He was incredibly professional and we hardly knew we were having our photos taken…great for a couple who aren’t particularly comfortable in front of a camera. We would recommend Tom wholeheartedly, a lovely guy with fabulous skills.”
I am a professional photographer based in the South West of the UK, I cover weddings in this area but I do often travel, I have covered a couple of weddings in France this year and I have one is Italy next year. I have been shooting weddings for over seven years and I love it. The first was my sisters and since then I have not looked back, I cannot believe how lucky I am to share with so many an occasion that is so personal. When I am not covering weddings you will find me out surfing with friends, walking with my wife or just being as active as I can. I am a active, energetic and optimistic person.
How would you describe your photography style?
In one word, evolving. I always work closely with the couples that want to use me and we share Pinterest boards and ideas to get exactly what they want. The style is always close to my own values of unobtrusive, friendly, natural and honest, documenting the day, as it happens in order to retell it with my own images.
What did you love about the day?
I loved the individuality of this day that Totty and Luke had created. With the friends singing or the heaps of handmade items that decorated the venue from the rafters to the floor. All these details were a feast for me to photograph.
