St Ives, Lelant Beach Wedding

We feature the lovely wedding of Bride & Groom Lucie and Josh Reeves that got married on 10th September 2016 at Treglisson Holiday Park, Hayle, Cornwall,  and Lelant Beach, St Ives, Cornwall. The day was captured by Alchemy Photography; Christine & David Wilkins.

Do tell us about the couple

Lucie and Josh both grew up in Cornwall and met there and so it was only natural for them to return to get married. Even though they now live in Berkshire, any holiday they have, they spend it in Cornwall.

They choose Lelant beach in particular as Josh spent a lot of his childhood visiting the beach, his family used to live in Lelant.

The day and how it went

We arrived at Josh’s parents holiday Park in Hayle in the morning. Lucie and her Bridesmaids were getting ready in the Farmhouse. Josh and his friends were busy preparing the Marquee for the wedding reception. It was a beautiful day with sunshine from start to finish.

While Christine captured the bridal preparations, I went with Josh and his best man and ushers to Lelant beach where they were setting up an arch for the wedding celebration, they actually got married on the Thursday before in a small registry office ceremony, today was going to be the big party with a wedding celebrant their good friend Andy.

Lelant Beach was their favourite, not one I had been to before, it was just stunning, to the right was 3 miles of white sand, Hayle Bay with Godrevy lighthouse in the distance and to the left was St Ives. The pictures were going to be gorgeous, we had blue skies and deep blue sea, after the ceremony we took Lucie and Josh down to the waters edge and got some amazing pictures. We then went back to Treglisson for a Cornish cream tea (of course) with champagne, and the rest of the days entertainment

Do tell us a little bit about yourself

I have always been a keen Landscape Photographer and then 5 years ago I was asked to do a friend’s wedding and I enjoyed it so much that from there it just took off. Last year we did our 250th wedding and we were also part of the Hen Heaven Awards, out of over 2000 UK wedding Photographers we made the top 34 wedding photographers in the UK.

We love to capture moments and tell the story of the day.

How would you describe your photography style?

If at the end of the day the Bride & Groom come over and said they barely noticed us all day then I am very happy I would rather capture the day than be part of it, so our style I would say is reportage but we are more than happy to do any formal shots.

What did you love about the day?

It has to be the ceremony on the beach, everybody was so relaxed they had brought rugs to sit on and the beautiful scenery coupled with the glorious sunshine and deep blue sea all around just created a lovely atmosphere

What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding day?

Relax and enjoy your day and create the day you would like. Don’t try to please everyone it’s not about them.

Testimonial from Bride

“We were so lucky to have stumbled across David and Christine! Choosing the right photographer was very important to us and their pictures didn’t disappoint! We were so excited to see the results and we couldn’t have been luckier with the weather and location. The whole day was magical and that was captured through the photos.”
