I’m delighted to share the lovely wedding of Sophie and Darren which was captured by Jess Rigley.
Knowing each other since school, but only getting together a few years ago, they are the perfect match made in heaven. Months prior to the wedding I was asked if I would like to take a few snaps at their big day, How could I say no? Such a fun loving couple with an exciting wedding on the cards, Steam trains & Tipis. It says a lot for how unique and exciting their interests are, and they flourished on their big day
The day and how it went
To start the wedding celebrations I met Darren and the grooms party at Churnet Valley railway at the Cheddlston station, where we was taken straight back into the 40s. One very excited Darren was soon joined by his family, as we all got on board an original steam train to the wedding destination, the next stop called Consall. Once arrived, you couldn’t be disappointed, With beautiful scenery, the Station was decorated to an amazing standard, covered in flowers, a vintage theme, And Glorious Tipis it was an exciting sight to be seen! Sophie wasn’t far behind either. Arriving by another unique form of transport, A Beautiful Narrowboat! Both arriving in style, It wasn’t long until the wedding started. Sealing it with a kiss in the ticket booth the celebrations started, first of all my boarding the steam train we started a hour and half journey through the most beautiful and relaxing scenery. Once we returned we then had garden games followed by speeches, which was certainly emotional, but extremely heartwarming. Following this, the night time entertainment began in the tipis, and as they say, the rest is history.
My names Jess Rigley, I’m a 25 year old wedding photographer, Based in Nottingham but travel all around the UK shooting couples perfect day in my own essence.
How would you describe your photography style?
With having a fashion and street photography background, I have a mixture of editorial and reportage essence to each of my images. Very much being in the background of the wedding, My main aim of the day is to capture moments in their natural state, with real smiles and reactions. Many couples have commented on how I blend into their wedding and don’t realise i’m even there, Which is perfect for all those little moments I don’t want to miss.
What did you love about the day?
It was the most unique wedding I’ve shot, thats for certain. Its not everyday you get asked to shoot a wedding on a steam train, and it was certainly the most relaxed wedding i’ve been a part of! Being a lover of steam trains myself though, Its hard not to fall in love with this wedding!
