A Soft Vintage Wedding at Newton Hall

Today we feature the beautiful wedding of Jenny & Neil which took place at the lovely Newton Hall in Northumberland. Their day was captured by Helen Russell.

Do tell us about the couple…
I never actually met Jenny & Neil until a month before their wedding, I had often spoke to Jenny on the phone and she always sounded so lovely, I was really looking forward to meeting her. They were so laid back on their wedding which made the day so relaxed and fun.

“It’s cliched but your wedding day is something you look forward to (as a female) for a long time, it takes a lot of planning and hard work to get right, but in the end is the best day of your life and so worth all the effort. I’m so glad that I chose Helen to photograph our wedding, because she captured not just the dress, but all the finer details of the day, in such a beautiful way. The details that occupied my thoughts and time for so long, the ones that I want to remember, because I loved how it all turned out on the day. Another important part of the day to capture is the emotions of not just the bride and groom but your family and guests. Helen did this perfectly, in such a natural way. On the day Helen was very professional and got the shots but was fun and guests commented on how great she was. Please tell us a little bit about the day and how it went?
The wedding at Newton Hall was a soft vintage touches mixed with rustic and quirky details. The Bride looked so elegant in her Ronald Joyce gown. The rain chased us all day, looking at these pictures you really wouldn’t believe it!! Just as Jenny walked down the aisle for her outdoor ceremony the heavens opened , Jenny still kept beaming, the rain eased up and started the second the guys went in for their wedding breakfast, afterwards this didn’t stop us popping to the beach where we were greeted with the most stunning light on the golden sands of Northumberland!

Do tell us a little bit about yourself?

• I love my husband, my family, my friends and my career.
• My marital name is Helen Little , My friends call me Little Helen Little or Muscle Russell.
• I have a gorgeous little baby boy called Henry ! A new addition to The Little Family.
• I love spending time exploring the great outdoors or snuggled infront of a log fire with a nice pale ale.
• I love Food. Make-up. Fashion and raiding through antique furniture shops for trinkets for my home.
• I am busy renovating a little terraced house in Sunderland.
• I love experiencing new things and meeting new people and I am willing to travel to photograph your special day or family event.
• Most of all I love people who appreciate creativity and a good photograph.

How would you describe your photography style?
I aim to create emotion and narrative in your wedding images. I use beautiful natural light to create the mood and energy, so when you look back at your wedding album your feelings and memories will come flooding back.

I will capture every detail of your wedding taking natural and beautiful photographs, I will then apply my unique post production , the result is a personal story you will cherish for the rest of your lives! I enjoy building relationships between myself and the couples and I understand how important my role is on your wedding day, It is a honour for me to capture your special memories!

What did you love about the day?
Normally a wedding with 150 guests can be tricky to organise but everyone was so helpful and cooperative on the day it made everything run so smoothly. I loved how Jenny & Neil just were so relaxed and didn’t let the rain bother them and we happy to follow me to the beach and let me capture some stunning portraits. I also LOVE shooting at Newton Hall, it is such an amazing venue with quirky details, a laid back attitude however always remaining very professional! So it just suits my style perfectly!
