Rounders and a Wedding at East Riddlesden Hall
A Wedding day that included a game of rounders? Something different and very fun, bright and creative, the wedding of Caroline & Ian at the lovely East Riddlesden Hall, captured by Paul Maven Photography.
Caroline & Ian wanted something a bit different. Something that didn’t fit the normal pattern of a wedding. So they searched for things they loved and tore up the template. For a start, who has a rounders match at a wedding? Well, Caroline and Ian wanted one. So the celebrations spanned two days at the splendid East Riddlesden Hall. A rounders match, games, hog roast and drinks on the first day were followed by the wedding proper on the second. The actual wedding day timings were approached in a fresh way also. The ceremony was followed by afternoon tea and cakes, with the photography happening once the guests had had their fill. The entertainment was provided by Brighton based ‘Disco Shed’, who also played at Leeds Fest that weekend! The attention to detail was staggering. Every element of the wedding was meticulously planned using a range of really fantastic suppliers from across Yorkshire. The couple remained utterly relaxed throughout the two days and it was a real joy to photograph their celebration. And to end this happy tale, a honeymoon baby is on the way!
In Caroline’s own words:
“Yellow to me signifies happiness, sunshine, friendship and summer so it felt like the perfect colour to choose for our big day. We wanted a very relaxed and informal day and it was so important that we gave our friends and family two days full of laughter and amazing memories they could look back on for the rest of their lives. We’ve both been to plenty of weddings and the ones that stood out were filled with a personal touch and that’s what we wanted to achieve. East Riddlesden Hall was perfect for our two day wedding as it is in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and had a big open playing field for the rounders match. The barn was ideal for our wedding ceremony as the backdoors can be opened which made it feel like we were getting married outdoors, plus having our reception here too meant little fuss for our guests. I also loved that you can treat the hall as a blank canvas and decorate it anyway you wish.”
“The two day wedding was incredible and it meant that the days didn’t fly by too quickly. All our guests got to know each other and new friendships have been formed. It was the perfect fairy tale wedding after dating Ian for 16 years. Just two weeks after we said our vows I discovered I’m pregnant with our first child, an even more perfect fairy tale ending”.
