Steph & Rob – Preston Court, Kent Wedding

Steph & Rob married on Saturday 11th July 2015 at the amazing Preston Court in Kent, their special day was captured by Wild Rose Photography.

They were blessed with the most beautiful weather on their wedding day. This meant they were able to get married outdoors underneath the stunning wedding pagoda on Julianna’s Island surrounded by flowers strung all around them.

The entire day was relaxed and full of fun. From Mr & Mrs Golf to entertain the guests, to the vintage carousel at Preston court, every part of the day had been fully thought through. Steph did an amazing job organising the day, and you could clearly see her career in events gave her an advantage! The soft pastel colour scheme the couple chose and a hint of Gatsby glam made for a beautiful contrast set against the rustic backdrop of the barn. It was a joy to capture this amazing day for them.

The couple

Rob & Steph were a lovely couple, and an absolute pleasure to photograph. From the moment I arrived on the day, they made me feel welcome and relaxed. You could tell family and friends are important to them, and a lot of effort went in to making sure the day was enjoyable for everyone.

The day

It was a beautiful English summer’s day, and I arrived at The Bell Hotel in Sandwich to find a very calm Steph and her bridesmaids drinking champagne as they got ready. There was a lovely atmosphere, with the French doors open to the sound of tourists visiting the coastal town. As I later made my way to the wedding venue Preston Court, I found a slightly nervous Rob eagerly awaiting on the romantic Julianna’s Island for the arrival of his bride. The ceremony ran smoothly, and was completed with the newly married couple walking over the pretty iron bridge to a confetti reception by their guests. After drinks and canapés in the beautiful grounds and warm sun, the guests moved to the 17th century Kentish barn for speeches and dinner. The evening saw guests enjoy crazy golf and the Victorian carousel ride as the evening sun set.

About the photographer

I’m Rebecca, a full time freelance photographer based in Kent. I have been a photographer for nearly 10 years now and absolutely love my job. I honestly never feel like I’m working – it’s such a privilege to be able to do something that I enjoy so much. I get so much enjoyment from being involved in so many amazing wedding days, and such pride providing my couples with beautiful memories frozen in time for them to look at for years to come. I started my company Wild Rose Photography after going freelance from a full time job in a portrait studio, and I love the freedom of being able to shoot in my own unique style. It’s one of the perks for working for yourself – you get to choose what kind of art you want to produce, and be as individual as you want to be!

I would describe my style as relaxed and creative. I love to capture the entire day as it naturally evolves – all the tears, laughter, emotion ….and drunken dancing! I love being a little adventurous and creative with my photography. There are no rules, and I like to produce images that are visually interesting to look at as well as holding a narrative in them. I love using natural light, and my work is fresh and soft. I love working with brides and grooms who are creative and adventurous and aren’t afraid to plan their wedding outside the tradition norms.

What did you love about the day?

I think what I loved most about Rob & Steph’s day – aside from the stunning venue and weather we were blessed with, was just how friendly everyone was, and how relaxed the entire day was. Everyone was having such a great time. It was clear to see, and an absolute pleasure to capture for them.

What advice would you offer to other couples?

My advice to brides and grooms planning their day is to not be afraid to make the day their own. There is so much freedom now for couples to be unique and creative with their wedding day. Don’t be afraid to follow your heart and have the day of your dreams rather than a day your family and friends want. What I love most about my job as a wedding photographer is getting to see so many different styles and approaches to a wedding day. It’s good to be unique – make your wedding day one to remember!

After seeing their photos, Rob & Steph got in touch to say;

“Thank you so much. I can’t stop looking at them, they capture the day perfectly. It was lovely to have you as part of our day.”
