Today we head off to the beach for a lovely engagement, the couple Jess & Alex took their shoes off and had a beautiful afternoon captured by Karl Baker.
About the couple… From Jess…
Take it back 8 years, we would spend our days down our favourite beach, Mwnt and we would talk about our lives whilst at the beach. We would wait to be picked up at a bus stop in Llandissilio and treasure the little time we had as teenagers to get to know each other, talking about our favourite music, places we would like to visit and this is where we fell in love. We knew from then on we were meant to be together, this was for keeps. Alex got down on one knee in that very bus stop on the 4th December 2013 and we married on the 5th September 2014, which was without a doubt the best day of our lives.
What did I love about the day…
Jess had booked their wedding with me over the phone and I didn’t meet them until this shoot, but you could tell when speaking on the phone they were going to be an amazing couple to work with. Jess completely bought into my style of photography. I clicked straight away with Jess and Alex, an easy going, lovely couple who loved being at the beach as much as me! It was a very easy, chilled shoot. They also happened to be and this is hands down the truth… the most in love couple I have shot in years. They literally were and still are besotted with each other which again meant I could just shoot what I saw most of the time.
About me, Karl Baker.
I’m a wedding photographer from Swansea, South Wales. I love beach shoots, sunset shoots, surfing and seascape painting. I’m fortunate to have several excellent wedding venues on my doorstep in the fantastic Gower peninsula, which is a stones throw from my house. This means that more often than not my office is the beach! I get to shoot brides on the beach nearly every week during the summer. I also travel around a fair bit too for weddings and have been booked to shoot weddings throughout the UK and Internationally. I love my job.
Being a keen landscape / seascape photographer and painter too I love to add the drama that wedding weather throws at you if I can. I guess I look for dramatic cloud formations, sunsets, rain, rainbows and general weather to the landscape that I pose a bride and groom in.
