Today we catch up with Sevenoaks Wedding Photographer, Nataliya of Akira Photography.
Good afternoon! So firstly how long have you been photographing weddings for and how did you get into it?
I have been photographing weddings for just under a year – I have been photographing children and families for the past 5 years and decided to make the move into weddings. It’s always been an area that has interested me and now was the right time to do it!
What do you particularly like about photographing weddings?
I like all the emotions of the day. I like being able to stand quietly and capture those moments and give them to couples and their families later on.
How would you describe your style and approach?
My style is traditional – contemporary reportage I prefer to stay quiet and in the wings and photograph the day to provide natural photographs,I do all the posed shots if requested I try to remember I’m working as I am a very relaxed person and chatty which I think helps but so my approach is that I’m blending in and photographing people I think it helps those less inclined to have the picture taken to relax as well.
What advice would you give to couples looking for a wedding photographer?
I would say look around, make sure your photographer has the relevant insurances, make sure you meet them beforehand and have a chat about what your vision is and how they work. It’s important you get along and trust one another. Ask as many questions as you want as well!
What tips would you share with couples to help their day go more smoothly?
Please give your photographer a good idea of what you want and especially what you don’t want!
Finally… What is the best moment you’ve had as a wedding photographer?
So far being told how good I am at organising people and how relaxed I am that means a lot!
