Today we catch up with Barry Mellor Photography.

So firstly how long have you been photographing weddings and how did you get into it?
I am a fully qualified photographer with over ten years experience, I have been photographing weddings for the past 6 years.

What do you particularly like about photographing weddings?
I enjoy being an important part of someones special day & I love building & designing the story books with the images I have captured from the day.

How would you describe your style and approach?
I have a very relaxed approach to the photography on the day, I try to be as unobtrusive as possible, capturing the special moments between the bride & groom (& their guests) in a more natural light.

What advice would you give to couples looking for a wedding photographer?
Pick me! – I do think choosing a photographer is a very important part of planning your wedding because everyone wants something a little different, Its because of this, that I like to meet the couple beforehand, to get to know them a little more & to discuss their requirements.

What tips would you share with couples to help their day go more smoothly?
I know from experience that your wedding day can pass by VERY quickly, so I always suggest taking a moment at some point in the day, to reflect on all the hard work & planning that has gone into such a special day….. & mostly, enjoy it!

When I meet with my couples before the wedding, usually at the venue, I try to take down any information I might need to know – so that on the day, photography is one thing they don’t need to worry about.

Finally… What is the best moment you’ve had as a wedding photographer?

I just enjoy getting to know the happy couple – I have even had a few mentions in the speeches, which is always nice. I can honestly say, I’ve enjoyed every wedding I have been part of.

I love seeing how pleased the newly weds are when we meet after the wedding to look through their prints & story book.
