Heather & Colin’s, Gailes Hotel in Ayrshire Wedding

I’m delighted to share the lovely wedding of Heather and Colin who got married at the Gailes Hotel in Ayrshire and had their lovely day captured by Louise Mallan.

The Couple
Heather and Colin had been together for 9 years before getting married, he popped the question in Feb 2014 on a wonderful holiday travelling around New Zealand, even after 8 years together she didn’t have a clue he would be proposing! Heather had worked with Louise previously so I was her first choice when it came to finding a wedding photographer.

The Big Day
The Bride says: Perfect day that was totally relaxed– We got married and had the reception in the same venue so we the ceremony was at 2pm, so there was plenty of time to chill and get ready in the morning. Heather, her bridesmaids and mum stayed in the hotel the night before and we got ready in a beautiful Because we got married in February we were obviously nervous about the weather for pictures but luckily the sun shone in the afternoon so we were able to get some really good pictures, and even managed a trip to the local beach, although it was very cold and windy but it was worth it when you see the photos! Everything went to plan, and there’s nothing we would have changed (but maybe stocked the bar of more Tonic as our guests managed to drink the bar dry!

Louise says: Heather and Colin were married at The Gailes Hotel in Ayrshire and the ceremony took place in the rooftop conservatory which is stunning. The day was very relaxed and full of fun. The groom Colin told me that he didn’t like to get his picture taken and kept making funny faces when we were doing the group shots which was hilarious. The couple even braved the cold February winds down at Troon beach for a few shots as this is where Heather used to come as a child.

Photographer
My love for photography began when I was a teenager when I attended a saturday class at City of Glasgow College. After High school my career when in a different direction and it wasn’t until my husband bought me a dslr camera that I rekindled my passion for photography. 15 years after that first Saturday class I decided to go back to college and achieve my HND in photography and have been shooting weddings and portraits for the last 4 years now and I can honestly say that I love what I do.

How would you describe your photography style?
I aim to capture your day as it unfolds. I will work quickly and quietly around you capturing all the details that you have spent months planning to provide you with fun, relaxed and natural images.

What did you love about the day?
Heather says: Just having our friends and family all together was lovely. Good food, great band, great company, it was just a great big party. The venue was perfect and we couldn’t compliment them enough either.

Louise says: I loved all the little details Heather and Colin had added to their day such as personalised packets of tissues for”tears of joy” during the ceremony. The venue was stunning and Heathers backless dress was just “Wow” I’m so glad they made it down to the beach later on, even though the wind could cut you in two there was some dramatic light which made for some amazing images.
