Greenbank Hotel Wedding Ceremony

We share the wedding of Lauren and John who got married at the Greenbank Hotel. Their special day was captured by Brian Robinson, a Cornwall based wedding photographer.

About the couple

Lauren & John married at the Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth. Their wedding was in May last year, on what was one of the hottest spring days on record.

A little bit about the day and how it went

Like most Cornish Weddings it was a relaxed day and Lauren & John surrounded themselves with their closest family & friends. Although they live in Hull, Lauren & John chose to marry in John’s hometown of Falmouth, the backdrop of the harbour and the water provided a key feature to the day.

The ceremony took place in the Greenbank Hotel’s Riverbank Suite. Following the ceremony everyone gathered on the terrace and soaked up the sun before taking a Vintage Bus on a short trip to the Price of Wales Pier. We boarded the ‘Queen Of Falmouth’ for a river cruise around Falmouth Harbour and the Carrick Roads. The gorgeous weather also played its part on the cruise and there were times that you could have thought you were cruising around the Mediterranean.

Back on dry land we hopped back on the bus to the hotel for the Wedding Breakfast and a little surprise for the Wedding Party. Unbeknown to their guests, Lauren & John had arranged for some singing waitresses. I was a little unsure on what to expect, as I had never experienced Singing Waiters, but after the initial surprise the whole wedding party were up and dancing.

As the sun set over Falmouth everyone spent the rest of the evening out on the terrace bringing a perfect end to a perfect day.

Do tell us a little bit about yourself

I’m Brian, I’m a Wedding Photographer in Cornwall and live in the beautiful town of Falmouth. I live here with my fiancé Michelle and our daughter Martha. I shoot weddings in Cornwall and throughout the UK.

How would you describe your photography style?

My style is a blend of documentary & reportage. I like to blend into the background at a wedding to capture the day as it happens.

What did you love about the day?

Lauren & John’s Wedding was another reason why I love Wedding Photography so much. I knew from the first time I met them both that it was going to be a lot of fun. They had a great vision for what they wanted from the day, it was a day full of love & laughter with their favourite people in a beautiful place. And I got to share it with them!

But the highlights of the day would have been the Boat Cruise and the Singing Waiters.

What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding day?

I always advise that it’s important to have a connection and get along with your photographer. Apart from loving their work you are essentially inviting a complete stranger to share the most precious day of your lives with you. I will often say that 50% of the reason you book with someone is because you connect and put your trust in them. The other 50% is because you love their work.
