Carriage Hall Wedding in Nottingham
We share the wedding of Steve and Leanne who got married and tied the knot at Carriage Hall in Nottingham. Their day was captured by Matt Selby, a photographer based in the East Midlands.
About the couple
Steve and Leanne are a fun, loving couple who are not only very photogenic but both have great personalities. They have been together for 5 years and they were a pleasure to work with.
Please tell us a little bit about the day and how it went
The wedding was held at the Carriage Hall in Nottingham, with a colour scheme of pastel blue and yellow mixed with white. It was a fantastic day in the middle of the UK heat wave. They had outdoor music and food and even had their name in lights! You couldn’t have asked for a better day!
Do tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m a Nottingham wedding photographer who strives to capture bold and creative imagery. I try to avoid anything cliché or shots that have been taken by every other photographer. I’m always looking for unique scenes/backgrounds and photo opportunities and enjoy moody skies, reflections and lots of flash work.
How would you describe your photography style?
A mix of natural reportage photography with hints of fashion and flair.
What did you love about the day?
I enjoyed bridal prep in the morning, the emotional speeches, the live music, the room details, the love the couple have for each other, the overall day and the the B&G shots.
What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding day?
Find a supplier you love and book them as early as possible! Don’t leave it until the last minute (I have to turn down a lot of enquiries, which I hate doing!)
There’s a lot to plan and sort so booking a couple of years in advance will enable you to not only book your preferred suppliers, but you may also get them at the current price before any price hikes. You’ll also have more time to plan and save!
Finally, something which many couples advise. It’s your day, plan it how you want it and don’t sweat over how others may have done it or who to invite for fear of upsetting x,y,z.
Steve & Leanne’s advice: Once you find something you like, book it, and then stop looking… it’ll only make you question yourself. Take your original budget, then add 20%. I know it’s a cliché, but it goes so fast you wouldn’t believe. Make the most of every second.
