Nick Brightman Photography

Hi

I’m Nick and I live in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands with my wife, two little girls and a few chickens – the chickens live in the garden, our little girls don’t.

I love weddings because I love to observe people and when all is said and done, it’s the people that really make a wedding. Of course the venue acts as a wonderful backdrop to the day adding colour, variety and context to everything, but it’s you and your guests that really make it memorable.

My tag line talks about my style being unposed, candid and natural and I think that encapsulates it all really. I’m documenting real moments as they unfold during the day, trying to be unobtrusive so you can relax and really enjoy yourself without being told what to do and where to stand by a bossy photographer!

Each wedding is different but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE weddings that have something different, a little twist, a unique element that give them a personality all of their own. That’s where my style of photography excels, capturing all those different facets of the day to create a true documentary record of what will be one of the most important days of your life.

How would you describe your style?

My approach is take very natural, unposed shots of your day in a documentary style also known as reportage or photo-journalistic I try to be unobtrusive and let you relax and enjoy the day and capture genuine, authentic moments of that tell the story of the wedding I'm an observer during the day and whilst I take lots of photographs of the happy couple I also look out for wonderful moments involving your guests, perhaps thing that you would otherwise have missed Your wedding day can seem like a whirlwind so my style is to document the proceedings from the 'getting ready' all the way to the 'getting down' on the dance-floor

What do you love about weddings?

I love the emotion that you get at weddings that span everything from nerves and excitement through to tears and laughter. I sometimes find myself having to suppress a tear during the speeches if they're really tugging at the heart strings - I'm just a big softy really! Although the sequence of events at each wedding is broadly speaking the same, no two are ever the same and that's also something that I love. It's the variety, the unknown and the challenge of telling the story of the day with images

What advice would you give to couples looking for their perfect wedding photographer?

Think about what style of photography you like. Do you like lots of formal posed family photos or prefer a more candid approach to documenting your day? Would like images that are airbrushed in Photoshop afterwards or more natural, authentic images? Once you've decided what you like then it's time to look around and there are a LOT of us! So as well as finding the style that you love it's also about meeting someone that you get along with, after all, they're going to be with you all day! Whilst it makes sense to stick to a budget when you're planning your wedding it's also worth remembering that your images will last you a lifetime and be something to hand down to your children and grandchildren. So I'd say it's a very worthwhile investment to choose the photographer that you think will best capture your day
