Married to My Camera

I’m a Surrey wedding photographer with a wry observational style and an emphasis on capturing real and meaningful connections in my pictures. My aim is to capture the decisive moments without turning your wedding into one long and slightly awkward photo shoot! Try to think of me as part wedding photographer and part social documentary maker. Whilst I make sure to catch all the key moments of the day, I’m also on the lookout for those unscripted moments that will make the story of your day unique. Moments of reflection or anticipation, a glance or gesture that can say so much, or even those absurd moments that have everyone in stitches.

How would you describe your style?

My documentary/reportage style is about responding to events on the wedding day, rather than creating artificial predetermined images. There's a whole rollercoaster of emotions on the wedding day and I want to create for my couples a set of pictures that truly represents their wedding day.

What do you love about weddings?

The buffet! No seriously.. the thing that keeps me going, for ten years now, is the excitement that's in the air when two people decide to make such a big commitment to one another. I get such a buzz from being there to witness such a momentous occasion, and create what will undoubtedly be some of the most important images in that couple's lives. I little while ago I did a series of portraits of the longest married couples at the weddings I photographed. Their stories were so moving.

What advice would you give to couples looking for their perfect wedding photographer?

My advice to couples is to look at lots of the weddings that the photographer has blogged on their website and look though their sample albums if you're able to meet in person. Look at how the photographer approaches each section of the day and ask yourself if these are the kind of pictures that you'll still enjoy looking at in the years to come. Once you've chosen the photographer that's right for you, encourage them to take the pictures they love and empower them to do the best job they can on your wedding day.
