A wonderful autumn wedding in Bristol
Today we feature the wonderful autumn wedding of Chris and Nic’s special day in Bristol. We just love the shots on the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge where Chris proposed, the day was captured by Stonelock Photography who are based in London.
It’s hard to express in words the love that there was woven throughout Chris and Nic’s wedding day, not just between the Bride and Groom but also among their families and friends many of whom were involved, not just on the day, but in the preparations beforehand (the Groom’s sister made the cake and the Bride’s Mum made her silk bouquet!). It was a truly joyful wedding that was an absolute delight to photograph.
Bristol Wedding
Chris and Nic met at university in Cardiff and on graduating made Bristol their home. Chris proposed to Nic on the city’s iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge.
For a late October wedding they were blessed with unseasonably gorgeous sunshine and blue skies (and ok, a bit of rain late afternoon but by then no one minded as they were enjoying the hog roast!).
AJ started the day with Chris and his groomsmen. With it being such a fine day they abandoned the cars and walked to the Church! Meanwhile Ally was with Nic, her five bridesmaids, parents and four Grandparents as they took over a small B&B to get ready in. Nic and the girls did their own hair and make-up. With six women vying for two mirrors it was actually a very calm and relaxed morning. Nic was ready just in time for a few photos in her dress before leaving with her Dad for the Church.
The Church was packed as Chris and Nic emotionally exchanged their vows. In the spirit of getting involved, a vicar friend married them whilst one of the bridesmaids sang during the signing of the register! Chris & Nic literally danced down the aisle to Pharell’s ‘Happy’ at the end!
When Chris & Nic told us about the Clifton Suspension Bridge proposal they said they would love to bring elements of the bridge into their wedding photos. Arriving in town the night before the wedding & despite not knowing the area, we were determined to find the ideal location. After an hour on Google Maps we thought we had it so, in the dark, jumped in the car to check it out… It was the most perfect spot! I think I literally squealed with excitement at the prospect of shooting there the following day!
So, after the ceremony they put their faith in us – strangers to the city – and we went off on a little adventure in search of the Clifton Suspension Bridge! Thank you Google – the location was perfect & they are thrilled with the photos!
The wedding breakfast was held at St Mary Magdelene in Bristol. A Church on a Sunday, during the week the premises are hired out for events – filled with twinkling fairy lights and jars of flowers it was a glorious location for the party! And what a party! Chris & Nic left at 10pm through a tunnel of sparkers. What a wonderful wedding!
