Laura and Jamie had a delightfully intimate wedding with their closest friends and family. The wedding was held in the beautiful light of a warm October’s day at St Ives Harbour Hotel. I always feel blessed to shoot weddings in Devon and Cornwall due to the exceptional venues and beautiful scenery. St Ives one of my favourite locations to shoot at due to it’s beautiful backdrops and a very unique light.
Laura: “St Ives, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful places in the UK and I have some great childhood memories there. As all of my family are Cornish we wanted to get married in Cornwall, but wanted a spot that was worth Jamie’s family travelling so far for. Having nearly all of the people we love in one room was our highlight. We aimed to have a really relaxed and fun day, which meant there was no pressure on us. It made the day so much more fun for everyone involved.”
Relaxed weddings are great and I love to shoot weddings when I am able to blend in and feel part of it, it makes it easier to observe and to capture those special moments that happen when you least expect it. The day was perfect and was a delight to shoot. The beautiful beaches of St Ives served as a stunning backdrop for the private couple shoot. Laura even climbed up the rocks on the end of St Ives Bay in her wedding dress to get the shot they both desired. The highlight of the day was Laura and Jamie’s first dance to ‘Superman’ by Black Lace, a 90’s kids disco song known and loved by the whole wedding party. It was nice to see how everyone joined in. The celebrations went on with drinking and dancing into the night.
When the couple and their guests are this happy, it gives great opportunity for lots of unplanned documentary style shots, that tell a great story of a very special day.
