Maria and Steve’s Wedding Day in Leeds

Today we feature Maria and Steve’s beautiful Wedding Day who got married in Leeds and had their special day captured by Yorkshire based wedding photographers Walker & Walker Photographers, who are made up of Ben & Lynn Walker.

We just love the elegance and joy within these photos and the beautiful colour and vibrancy in the bouquet of flowers. We spoke to photography duo Ben & Lynn who captured all those moments about the day.

A little bit about the wedding day
“Maria and Steve’s wedding day was very different for us. Lots going on and lots of family and friends who had travelled from around the world to join them. We think it says a lot about them as people. They truly are a lovely couple and were extremely thoughtful in their creativity, attention to detail and looked after everyone in a very selfless way. Maria started her preparations at her home with her parents. They don’t live in the same city so it was nice to capture her in a place that’s very personal and enjoy her with her family close. Maria chose to marry at Leeds civic hall. The venue was chosen by the couple for its space and beauty. The venue is very opulent, decorated with the original dark wood and beautiful sweeping staircase. The guests were whisked away on a vintage bus to East Keswick hall just on the outskirts of leeds. We guess they chose the venue because it met all their needs. As the couple are the perfect hosts, they had decorated the hall so that everyone could enjoy it. The weather on the day was overcast and spotting with rain but not enough to spoil anything.”

Vision for the day
“Maria and Steve were friends before they started their romantic journey together. They both really love music and dancing and this played a huge part on their wedding day. They are a very modern couple although Steve’s heritage is Assyrian. It was nice to witness all of the families enjoying all of the music, both British and traditional Assyrian.

Maria also enjoys classical British tastes which was reflected in her dress and detailing being vintage.”

What did you love about the day?
“The things we loved about the day, so many…. The couples genuine nature towards each other made them a joy to photograph. Really enjoyed the traditional Assyrian dancing and their impeccable taste in music, then there was the food. We were seated amongst the guests and were treated to the most wonderful banquet. The Assyrian inspired menu was really colourful and a joy to eat. To this day, the best lamb we’ve ever eaten. We felt really spoiled and we are so grateful for Maria and Steve finding us on your perfect wedding. It really was perfect for us!”

“Maria and Steve both love to dance and their wedding heavily involved all aspects of dance.”

How would you describe your photography style?
“We would describe our photography as beautiful, modern and transparent. It’s very personal with a hint of editorial. We haven’t really coined a term for our style as we judge the style on the content. Every wedding we photograph is treated as a one off. We let our couple determine the flow and the style flows very naturally. We are observers who photograph things as they happen to capture the quirky events.”
