Today we feature a lovely engagement shoot of Niki and Lee that was captured at the stunning grounds in the beautiful Royal Botanic gardens in Kew back in March. The day was captured by London based wedding photographer Icy Lazare, a documentary, fine art, and creative Photographer.
Please tell us a little bit about the day…
Since my husband has been working in Kew gardens, I’ve always wanted to do an Eshoot there. So when I mentioned this to Niki and Lee and they were very much up for it. We were also very lucky with the weather. It was a beautiful crisp March day.
How would you describe your photography style?
Natural, honest, unobtrusive. I know those words are used a lot! I guess the bottom line is I just observe and capture moments that are key to the story/stories. During an Eshoot I will give some very basic and gentle directions to make my couple feel less anxious. I understand it is a bit of a contraction in terms but usually people don’t like to be in front of the camera and they just don’t know what to do, how to stand or if they should be looking at each other or me.
Why would you recommend engagement shoots to other couples?
There is no pressure during an Eshoot, it’s just the three of us and a nice setting. By making subtle suggestion on how they should try to relax in front of the camera and how to ignore me, they start to giggle and feel less self conscious. From that moment on, the ice is broken and we have a connection going. A connection which will still be there when I turn up on their big day. A face to face meeting is fine, but an eshoot is the beginning of a relationship.
