Location
The top tip for creating a memorable coastal wedding day is to get the location right. Whether you choose to marry on a beach in Cornwall or venture abroad to a warmer climate, make sure that your wedding venue matches your vision for your big day.

A quick search on Google will provide you with a multitude of options with beautiful sea views. Visit your venue shortlist before making any decisions. There are many beautiful spots in the South West and a host of talented Cornwall based wedding photographers to choose from.

Choose the right season
If you have your heart set on a coastal wedding choosing the right time of year for your celebration can make or break it.

Although the weather cannot be guaranteed, you are more likely to avoid the British rain during early Spring, late Summer and early Autumn. Warmer weather is always more suited to a beach wedding.

Tie-in the theme with nautical elements
A beach wedding always benefits from nautical themed wedding accessories. These can be inexpensive to make with the use of shells or driftwood and really add to the charm of a coastal wedding.

Choose your colour scheme wisely
A coastal wedding would generally look odd with, for example a red colour scheme. The use of turquoise or light blue will complement this style of wedding, or if you want a richer colour, navy blue can look very regal. If you’re not a fan of the colour blue, pastel tones will look whimsical at a beach wedding.

Keep it simple
Another important thing to remember if you are planning a beach wedding is to keep it simple. Many elements of a traditional church wedding simply won’t work with a beach equivalent. For example, a fairytale princess gown might weigh you down and look out of place on the beach whereas a simple, lightweight gown will work perfectly. The same theory works for most elements of your wedding. High heels are going to be quite difficult to walk in along the beach.

Coastal weddings tend to be more relaxed and less formal but they can produce some of the most memorable wedding photography. If you are planning a coastal wedding we would love to hear from you!
