Cornwall Beach Wedding

Today we head to the beautiful location of Cornwall for the lovely wedding of Cate and Neil, their special day was captured by local wedding photographer Scott Sharples. I just love this wedding and the beautiful South West of the UK, it is a great location and perfect for Cornwall Wedding Photographers.

The Day
These images are from Cate and Neil’s wedding last May. They got married in May in Cornwall, UK on a gloriously sunny day. It was a relaxed wedding with Cate in a vintage style dress and Neil and his groomsmen in tweed, with matching caps. They travelled between the ceremony in a lovingly cared for VW camper and we took time out on the way to shoot a few shots at the beach near Cubert village. The sun was high in the sky, I had to be careful to retain detail in the dress with such contrasty light. It was nice to get the sand between our toes, a feature of many Cornish weddings!

The couple had a reception at the nearby Smugglers Den, a venue with adjacent crop fields that we took advantage of as the evening light mellowed to allow us a to shoot a few more couples shots and allowing them to pause for breath during a busy day. The day included lots of youngsters who always present good photo opportunities, their wedding was no exception and as the evening celebrations got under way, the kids took to the dance for and didn’t disappoint!

Cate and Neil’s love for each other was so wonderful to witness and their families were so welcoming to their guests and to me too. They were a dream couple to photograph as they were very natural with each other which is always lovely to see and as a result it was one of my favourite weddings of 2014 to photograph.

The Photographer
I’m Scott Sharples, a wedding photographer, lucky enough to live in the special place that is Cornwall, UK. I have always taken photographs as far back as a can remember and can still remember the excitement when my parents gave me a little flip 110 camera which I took on school trips to document them all those years ago. My style of photography is relaxed and largely observational, with some couples shots and formal groups to compliment. I shoot with both colour and black and white in mind and I am always looking for those little moments of intimacy, emotion and interactions that tell the story of the day.
