Today we feature the beautiful and elegant wedding of Lewis & Holly captured by Jessy Jones. Below Jessy tells us about herself and also about the couple and the day itself.
Hi! I’m Jessy, My business is (very creatively) called Jessy Jones Photography. I’m a Wedding, Boudoir & portrait photographer, Based in Boston Lincolnshire, covering Lincolnshire, and all the surrounding counties.
I’ve always been a very creative person, if I’m drawing, making or painting something then I’m happy – Straight from school I decided I wanted to be a nurse, after all 16 year olds know what they want to do with the rest of their lives right? So, after doing A Levels in Human biology, Psychology, Computer Science and Fine art, my psychology teacher said to me one day ‘’jess why don’t you just do what you love and go to art school ; you spend all my lectures sat drawing, its obvious what you want to do with your life’’ so I did. I did a foundation degree in fine art, and chose illustration and photography as my sidelines – thus my love for photography was born! 14 years and still going strong.
My style is very laid back and photojournalistic. Being a creative person I hate being stuck in boundaries. Obviously with weddings you have set timelines for a lot of the day but once those are out of the way I like to capture people being themselves. Nobody remembers the fake smiles and the ‘posed shots’ but if you look through an album and see a photo of someone laughing, or a captured moment; those are the ones you will look back on and smile.
About the couple & their day
Lewis & Holly were married on 19th September 2014 in Corby. Holly prepared at her parents house in Cottingham surrounded by her fabulous family and 3 bridesmaids before setting off for their wedding at St Brendans Church in Corby, which was a grand, large, and beautifully bright, modern church.
The reception was followed by a beautiful country side vintage themed marquee wedding at the Royal Oak in Duddington, with highlights including a cheerleader dance from all the ladies, a live band and a fabulously romantic first dance to the “wannadies, you and me”.
For me this was the perfect kind of wedding. Not only did both of their families make me feel immediately at ease, they were all so laid back and ready to have fun. Everyone who knows me knows that I’m a huge fan of vintage styling – so upon seeing Holly’s stunning vintage inspired lace gown I just knew it was going to be a truly beautiful day. Their evening reception was full of personality – including framed wedding photographs of their parents and grandparents and family members who were no longer with them which I felt really gave deep personality to their day. The day was brimming with emotions, tears of joy, giggles, dancing and general fun – which I feel flows throughout the resulting photographs and I look through them and can’t help but smile at some of the moments captured – such as their faces after everyone at the wedding had a shot of jagermeister to toast the couple, or the cheer leader dance, or the drunken recreation of an old photograph of the groom and his friends. Truly a wonderful couple and I wish them both the very best for their future as husband and wife.
